Well, you had a good run, Chicago. I was hoping it'd be a Cinderella Run, but the clock struck midnight. Now I only have Washington to root for. ............. GOD F***ING DAMMIT!!!! WHAT THE F*** WAS THAT?!!! Historically a normal Washington Capitals playoff. Unfortunately for them, the one they won was not them getting over the hump but an outlier... though i also think they underplayed how much of a difference Barry Trotz made for them (see his impact on the Isles)

Speaking of failure: The Flames have been the team people expected to take the next step for a few years now, and it hasn't happened. Might wanna consider a mini blowup

So I went to bed as Calgary was up 3-0 early on against Dallas.
I wake up to see not only did they blow that lead, they got moidered, 7-3, and were eliminated.
Doesn't make me feel as bad about the Caps now.

He felt they were low balling him for a contract. But Trotz also has a demanding style so I so kind of get the impression Caps players were not too eager to continue playing

Washington gave him the playmakers on offense that he never really had in Nashville and he made them a more disciplined squad. He landed in a pretty good spot with New York, and the Caps are back to normal.

Both the Montreal Canadiens and the Stanley Cup Champion St. Louis Blues are heading home.
Vancouver is the only Canadian team left after Montreal's elimination.
I dont think the Blues ever recovered from COEVID putting a delay on the season.

Blues sucked. They had a ton of momentum before the break, but came out and looked like trash. Binnington had the worst stretch of his (short) career, our top D men looked average, and only O'Reilly looked really good. No Bouwmeester, Tarasenko's shoulder is f***ed, terrible goatending. I'm surprised we won 2 games tbh.

Last year was a perfect cinderella run that the fan base will never forget. But it is disappointing that we were tops in the West when everything shut down and then we came back and were maybe the worst team in the bubble period. Bouwmeester had that heart attack and is probably done. Not to overreact, but Binnington is a big of a question mark now. Tarasenko's shoulder is again a problem, and that might be the end of him being a short list RW seeing as how his shot is the only thing elite about him. And Pietrangelo is a UFA. A lot of uncertainty here.

My (probably wrong) picks Bruins in 5 Columbus in 6 Islanders in 7 Philly in 6 Vegas in 5 Calgary in 7 Avs in 5 Blues in 6 Went 5-3. Not terrible Round 2: Avs in 6 Vegas in 6 Islanders in 7 Bruins in 7.

Avs and Vegas are the class of the West. I'd be surprised if Dallas and Vancouver were little more than a pylon in their way. Tampa/Boston is gonna be a bloodbath, and we know Maroon is going to get into it with Chara again. What a guy. Philly and NYI is the closest series, could go either way. Both teams have good defense, NYI is smothering at times. Philly has the better goaltending.

What has gotten into Dallas? They went from playing the Flames close to blowing the doors off of the team that before the shutdown was the team to beat out west. And without Ben Bishop who was by far their best player last postseason.

Colorado finally woke up. Up 5-0 with 5 minutes left in the 1st. That team is scary, and everyone else would be ecstatic if Dallas pulled off this upset. TB or Vegas could handle Dallas easily IMO.
