You'd think they'd want to try and actually establish this "World" championship. Priest has not been built and has cooled off significantly since 6 months or so ago. This just underlines the belt not being on a level with the actual, real World championship. I felt that way before it actually happened, but having seen how it went down it certainly came off extremely well and felt like a big deal. I think it’ll actually boost Priest up, rather than bring the belt down. I hope so, I really like the guy - time for him to get a consistent push and position on the card.

41 is amazing.
If you told me he was 30 I would believe it. He must be jumping in the Lazarus Hot Tub like R-Truth.

Some of those takes are more frozen than the artic right now..wow I especially got a laugh from the poster that said he’d rather have Killer Kross. Same because it's literally from the biggest Damian Priest fan I know and the OP of this thread. 😭

When he signed for WWE, I thought that dude was an awful signing and that he would amount to nothing, and that he would bottle his cash in and end WM Weekend in Bitchhalla. So glad to be eating crow and to be proved wrong on both counts, dude has been great as the Archer of Infamy and as part of the classic Judgement Day line up, and his cash in was excellent.
Dude is almost certainly not going to make it past Glasgow as champion, but he should enjoy his run as champion and he looks great with the belt.

"Damian Priest" is one of the rare occasions where the WWE renaming machine worked out in spades because "Punishment Martinez" is such a bad name lmao.
He was on the Michael Kay Show when Don and Peter (who is a much better radio talk show host than WWE pre-show guy for everyone who hates him here) were at WWE World last week. Such a good interview and story about how he came up in wrestling. And he's a hardcore Yankees fan so I like the dude a lot.
Also really cool to see Judgment Day all giving him love, including Finn. Someone made the comparison to LIJ and that's the energy I got from them. I think they can make the transition to tweeners or even faces coming off Mania. Even if Dom is still a slimy little shit and I don't think I'll ever be able to stand JD McDon'tgoogleme.

Glad he was able to get this moment at the biggest stage.

I say Priest needs to bring the Hot Tub back and perform that SNL skit where Eddie Murphy was being James Brown.

It's a pretty low stake title run too because if for some reason he flops the new couple of weeks, they can easily have any credible face-beat him at the backlash to transition to Drew at clash with very low harm done on anyone.
Realistically the path forward is Drew to Punk to Seth (not sure how many title changes but it seems the path the title program will go) so this is sort of a filler run but no shame in that for Damien as winning the top title is still an impressive accomplishment.

My main issue is that the main story isn't that he won the title but that Punk cost Drew the title. He hasn't really felt like a big deal in months and his team with Finn has kinda dragged a bit.

My main issue is that the main story isn't that he won the title but that Punk cost Drew the title. It made sense though, Drew was so caught up in rubbing it in the face of Punk that he forgot about Priest having the briefcase and paid the price. It was also poetic in that Drew called Seth out for not focusing on Drew, but Drew got so caught up in taunting Punk he forgot that Damien was almost certainly waiting in the wings.

Oh yeah the story makes perfect sense. My issue is that Priest feels so secondary in all this. When Seth did the same he became the focus. This feels like the focus is less on Priest winning and more McIntyre losing it. He feels second fiddle to his own title win.

See, now I kind of wonder if he's even making it past Backlash as champion because Drew vs. Jey sounds like a way bigger deal for Glasgow.

I think Jey is a good fallback option in case fans don't take to Priest as champion over the next few weeks. if Priest kills it I guess Drew can just play face at Glasgow vs Priest but play heel on the shows around the event.

Priest vs Jey should be a hell of a match. I’m excited.
