I mean, I kept saying this to people.
Rated R Deadpool makes money. Disney doesn't interfere with stuff that makes money.
Why would Disney want to risk not making money?

They used to interfere with things that make money all the time, look at Miramax, which is why people had doubts, but they've gotten better at just leaving things be over the past decade.

That's more what I mean. The Eisner era is sort of an anomaly in Disney history because one man had so much power over pretty much everything, which lead to creative and financial burnout for both him and Disney. Iger, whilst not exactly hands off, is willing to let other people put over their vision if it makes money which is why Pixar never really got affected by it despite The Good Dinosaur doing below expectations because of everything else that was making money.

And even then I still believed his character would not take a great hit going from Rated R to PG 13 and the money he would make would be identical if not possibly a little more

As a testing ground for a PG-13 threequel, it wasn't too bad.

Good because there is zero chance I would see it at a PG-13. None.

With Rated R he can be outlandish and it’s funny because it’s so in your face but there is something to say about subtlety and as spoken on before things like obsessing over getting to land one F bomb in the film only for someone to take it from him

I just hope this doesnt mean he cant be in the MCU. He could have some interesting interactions with the Guardians of the Galaxy, Spider-Man, War Machine, and Thor (shame he wont be able to meet Tony Stark, though admittedly that would be 2 hours of nothing but snark).

I saw ONCE UPON A DEADPOOL and it was great. It worked. I, personally, don't need to see the R-rated version of Deadpool 2 now. If Deadpool was PG-13 I can't see why people wouldn't accept that, since it seems like Reynolds & Co. are getting the support from Marvel or whoever regardless, and their own edit from R to PG-13 resulted in a great movie modified how they wanted, with favorable results. But if he's destined to be R rated and Marvel's good with that, then great. This could've gone badly. It has not. That's good.

I'm wondering if they'll use the same continuity from the previous films. They dont have THAT much connection to the Fox X-Verse, so it could be comfortably placed in the MCU, and I dont want to lose Cable, Colossus, Negasonic Teenage Warhead, or Domino.

Might lose Colossus if they want to do their own X-Men. Negasonic and Domino probably could stay Think they keep Cable tho. Brolin obviously was really great as Thanos, so why not keep him as Cable which he was also good

I'm very conflicted about this. It actually does have a lot of connection to the Fox X-films. The "prequel era" X-Men even appear in a scene in Deadpool 2 where they are hiding from him. When someone mentions Xavier, Deadpool says "Stewart or McAvoy? This timeline is so confusing." Deadpool literally time travels back to X-Men Origins: Wolverine to "clean up the timeline". I'm totally with you on not wanting to lose the supporting characters though. They are fantastic and all play off Deadpool perfectly. There's the option of simply having the same actor play Deadpool in a different universe like with J. Jonah Jameson, but then we lose all the history with the supporting characters. It's going to be interesting to see what direction Marvel Studios goes with this. Do they just incorporate the entire Fox X-verse into the MCU? I know Hugh Jackman has said that he would play Wolverine again but only if he could do it in an Avengers movie, so that would be another plus to just incorporating the universe. But then the X-verse timeline is so wonky. It's a weird situation. It's not like Venom or something where you could just go "oh yeah, that took place in the MCU which is why Spider-Man can meet him".

I don't think it will be an issue to keep any of those characters. I mean, they are essentially Inhumans without any appreciable Kree genetics to them, so no one will care about the powers themselves. I have not seen the last two X-Men films to analyze them, but I was under the impression the X-Universe was getting rebooted anyways (though it is a shame to lose much of that cast). In all honesty, I could see them saying Banner's attempt to add Nat to the Resnapped rebounded in some weird way to bring the X-Men into the MCU anyways.

X-Men can't really call yet Either they multiverse them in with a new cast or do something that creates mutants Most likely multiverse tho and X-Men got taken from their world and put into ours. Older versions of Charles and Magneto already there and probably the prime team

I have this idea of how they could bring Deadpool and at least Cable into the MCU. Picking up from the last film, Wade is going around screwing with time. Then Cable shows up, "What the hell do you think you're doing, boy?!!" Suddenly, reality starts to unravel. Wade: "Whoa, trippy! What's going on?" Cable: "Well, now you've done it!" When reality reorders itself, they're in the MCU. Opens up a bunch of possibilities. Wade could meet a version of Vanessa who has no idea who he is, and he finds out he has a rewritten past he knows nothing about.

Then he could go looking for the X-Men to talk to NTW and Colossus, and when he finds the mansion it introduces the MCU version of the X-Men.
