On one hand I loved the firs tone and really want more, on the other I'm, like, entirely confident based on the million spinoffs they have planned that Sony's going to turn this into Amazing Spider-Man 2 2.

Awesome. The first is near SM2 in my heart so I can’t wait to see what they have in store.

Loved the first one, really hoping Sony doesn't muck up this one.

Cool. The first one was my favorite animated movie in many years.

I'm hoping we get a version of the Renew Your Vows family...probably with Peter B Parker and his MJ, little Annie would be great to see. If the rumours about them adapting "Sitting In A Tree" is true, then I can see Peter's family being used to convey to Miles and Gwen that their relationship can work out.

As someone who f***ing adored the first Spiderverse movie, I can't wait for this sequel, hopefully they bring back Olivia, considering her fate in the first one was left unknown.

As long as it's the same people behind it, I think it's going to be difficult for Sony to mess it up.

If anything, they’re probably going to say “You guys are Oscar winners, do nuts!” For some reason Sam Raimi's famous line about the Sony brass that are still overseeing Spider-Man to this day popped into my head just now, "They keep giving you more creative freedom the bigger and more successful you get, until you get so big and so successful that they take it all away." Huh. Wonder why that suddenly came to mind. Weird. Also here's a totally under related Marc Webb quote, "Once they see franchise potential they get tunnel vision, nothing you say and nothing you want to do matters, it isn't your movie anymore, your name is just slapped on it and it's your career that's at stake if it's bad."

I mean...we’ll find out in a few years I guess? I don’t know what else we can do since, well, they’re not the only studio to do stuff like this. Like, there’s a reason why Patty Jenkins is directing another Wonder Woman movie and not her 3rd Thor movie right now.

Like, there’s a reason why Patty Jenkins is directing another Wonder Woman movie and not her 3rd Thor movie right now. I'm usually for giving people the benefit of the doubt, but Sony's been given it in regards to Spider-Man for over a decade and really only produced one really good movie that's also a really good Spider-Man movie out of all their attempts (Spider-Verse). By what insiders, the directors and others have said, Feige even had a hand in making sure they got more freedom with the project (and by all accounts they already had some because Sony wasn't terribly concerned or interested in the movie when it went into production, thinking it wouldn't be the runaway success it was much like how they saw Raimi's Spider-Man 1 back when it was first coming out). Yet in spite of how bungling those higher-up's around the Spider-Man films are, like Avi (who is who rail roaded Raimi and Webb), nothing's changed, they still have power over these films and they just blame it on the director(s) and move onto the next attempt. To make a wrestling comparison, it's like when Vince McMahon just blames his current batch of writers or the head writer and fires/demotes them for his ideas flopping and brings in new people. It doesn't fix the problem, because the problem is the senile old man. You're not wrong, but I'm more willing to forgive the MCU for that because the one behind that issue was removed from Marvel Studios' movie division (and now just completely out of Marvel Studios period as IIRC) and in general Feige and his team seem to try to learn from their past mistakes. If they kept messing up their properties and just blaming the directors, and rebooting them and causing the same issues again and again I'd be skeptical of them too.

I really, really want a Spider-Man: Noir film. But into The Spider-Verse was all kinds of amazing. Definitely won't complain about a sequel in any regard.

I know one of their many ideas regarding building a cinematic universe around the Spider-Verse idea is to do an Into The Spider-Verse style movie with all female Spider-Men (like Gwen and Peni) that could lead into solo movies (the major one they seem to want to do being understandably Gwen). It sounds really good in theory. I just hope they don't put the cart before the horse again.
