I’m surprised Demolition took him back. They should’ve had Crush decide on his own to bring in Fuji, which Ax would be pissed about given their history, but Smash would be more easily convinced. This would’ve established Crush as the driving force behind the heel turn, and when Ax could no longer go in the ring, set it up for him to be kicked out (and betrayed by Fuji for a second time). Thats a good idea. Though didn’t Demolition take Fuji back like the weekend before Survivor Series? So he and Ax were only together for like one show. Maybe this all happened off screen. Ax looked totally checked out at Survivor Series. “I’m not even gonna grease my hair back for this match if we’re going to be working with FUJ THE STOOGE!” Also in kayfabe Ax was more or less fired from the team when Jack Tunney made the ruling after Survivor Series that there could only be two members of Demolition. So either he was voted off amongst his teammates or he just made the decision easier by leaving on his own accord because he didn't want to work for Fuj the Stooge again and/or he was just done with life at that point if his IDGAF final appearance at Survivor Series is anything to go by.

I think he lasted about 50 seconds in the match. If it was his last night, IDGAF is probably the right attitude, especially since he was forced out.

I always put this in the same boat as Heyman turning on Lesnar at Survivor Series vs. Big Show. It was a mixture of A) “my client is getting too independent and popular without my say-so” and B) “the opponent is bigger/badder and will put me in a better position” roughly. My question is, has a manager ever done this and actually got a better overall client? Sunny? Debatable, but she did keep jumping over to the next champs. Talking strictly kayfabe, or...

Ax definitely deserved better from WWF than that being his last match. It seems like years went by between WrestleMania and Survivor Series even though it was just a few months and he was a huge star at WrestleMania along with Smash.
