Dude, you can get off scott-free if the moron judge thinks you come from a good enough family. Our justice system sucks. But, like, rape is a horrific thing, I get not going to jail for burglary or car theft, but rape isn't something that you should be able to avoid serving time for. Plea deals are often made when the DA believes they could not get a conviction in court. I have no idea what the details were like in this case, but it's possible that this was better than him being found not guilty in court. Of course he also could have got the plea bargain due to his celebrity, or due to a crowded justice system, or a combo of a lot of reasons.

I know nothing about him. The only Art I know is the one who called wrestlers weight into question.

He died when I had just started watching wrestling. I knew him from AAA which I caught since we had Mexican TV back then. I didn't know about his sex crime back then. That said, there really not much to talk about. He's one of many wrestlers that had his own demons that killed him way too early. I believe he could have reached legend status if things went differently in his life, but then that just wasn't meant to be. I was just a wee lad when he was in WCW as The Juicer and he was there so briefly. My real first exposure to him was When Worlds Collide as my neighbor had a black box and he invited me over I knew no one on the card other than Tito Santana & Benoit.I loved the double hair/double mask match and I was super impressed with Art & Eddie. It wasn’t till probably 6 months later when Eddie showed up in ECW that I learned Art died a couple weeks after When Worlds Collide. I watched When Worlds Collide on my black box also. We had just gotten it and it was the second show I had watched on there after Halloween Havoc 94. The entire show blew me away even though I was only familiar with the names I had known already from WCW and WWF. I was just discussing this ppv with a friend of mine who's never seen it and I told him as a kid it blew my mind. In particular the hair vs Mask match. I went to school the next day telling all my friends about Art Barr's frog Splash and how I'd never seen anything like it. I remember very little of his Juicer run in WCW because I was just starting to get into wrestling at the time and it seemed like it was a blink and you missed it type of deal. Until I read the comments in this thread I never knew the details about Art's case. From the very little I knew about it I thought he may or may not have been caught with an underage girl but nothing more than that. Where did all these other horrible and gruesome details come from? Unfortunately if these details are true that is definitely the main reason nobody really mentions him anymore. On top of footage of his stuff not being readily available. As someone else mentioned Art Barr was custom made for ECW and likely would have been a major player there had he lived. With the baggage Art had I couldn't see WWF or WCW taking a chance on him.

You could take a plea deal to avoid serving time for a rape charge back then?? Dude, you can get off scott-free if the moron judge thinks you come from a good enough family. Our justice system sucks. Was gonna say “what do you mean ‘back then’”?

I didn’t know anything about Art Barr, aside from the When Worlds Collide episode of 83 Weeks, before this thread. It now seems really odd that Conrad would push asking Bischoff about if Art Barr was a plan for WCW, and it makes sense why Bischoff immediately noped it.
