I wonder if they're considering splitting the Network in two, a WWE Classics channel for older content, and the core WWE Network for 2014-present stuff.

I dropped the network a couple months ago because I just wasn't watching it much. I only wanted the classic content and kept it for so long for ppvs because of my brother who has pretty much given up on those too.
I suppose they did studies and more want newer content or at least Attitude era and up and weren't even around before that.
I think the old content needs to be made available and updated for those that want it. I think it's important, because where else can you get it?
That said, if they offered the old stuff at a discount. I'd sign right back on.

yeah.... as I'm losing interest in the current WWE product (sans NXT), I find myself watching the classic content. I still have a lot to watch, but people that have only been watching that and crave the new updates, i could see them leaving the service. However, I'm wondering if a majority of the subscribers want newer stuff.

I wonder if certain classic shows are becoming problems because of obscure rights issues (see: what happened to War to Settle the Score....say, do we know WHAT happened to WTSTS yet?*)? Are they running out of things they can use in general?
Or...and this is stretching, are there "taboo" or "disgraced" people or things viewers complained about seeing/hearing in the 2010s going on 2020s? Got Mel Phillips pretty much banned from anything WWE (and not even Benoit nor Hogan get that distinction!)
* - Edited the Superstars reference cause that's not really obscure.

The only rights issue with Superstars is having to censor the "of Wrestling" part of the name. If they were willing to take the time to do all of those blurs and mutes, they could put them up today. I don't know why they bothered to remove Mel Phillips from anything since they left him in a bunch of shows. I'm guessing it's just a matter of priorities. The top 10 most viewed shows each week are always recent PPVs, NXT stuff, or the newer documentary shows.

Well yeah, it happens to just about any network or TV source that is originally seen as a library for classic content. They get away from the "older is better" crowd and attempt to fish in the casual viewers out there. TV Land, Game Show Network, the list goes on and on. I guess it was inevitable here too. This, coupled with originals catching on on streaming media, like with Netflix and with things like the Mandalorian on Disney+. As for Phillips, apparently it was a case where "one person" says something and affects everything. Apparently someone who was victimized by Phillips saw him on a DVD or something, and got triggered/stressed. This is why the "alternate" version of Hogan/Andre was put on the True Story of Wrestlemania, as apparently MP was at ringside so this made it easier to edit him out.

Just give me Sunday Night Heat and Velocity already! holding out for this and other older stuff. My patience is wearing thin though and considering just dropping the network all together

How much is too much for a streaming site? Can they continue to House everything and keep adding new content or will some of the oldest content disappear one day?

Hey you know the thing that a significant portion of the audience subscribes for? Yeah let's do less of that

Streaming services will remove content but not for that reason.

Hey you know the thing that a significant portion of the audience subscribes for? Yeah let's do less of that Unless there is an underlying reason, yeah. And there shouldn't be any room for error at this time in history. (yeah I know, they aren't near the main two shows' numbers yet, despite Raw/SD's foibles in the grand scheme of things, and NXT has started to win, but still...any false moves will feed fans to the competition) I'd guess that the casual Network subscriber wants originals or wants things relevant to the current product, as this is usually how that sort of thing works (again see: GSN, Nick at Nite, TV Land, any former "library" channel that is now all modern programs). Insert your own "just look at Raw/SD's ratings" snark here. I dunno, I'd have to wait to learn said underlying reasons. On the other hand, I'd say be glad that it's just "less" and not "no more." Maybe I'd take it more to heart if I didn't spend less time watching wrestling or wanting to watch it these days.

I'll be honest idk how cost prohibitive transferring old material is but it feels like there's a good spot for it. Like if I wasn't boycotting WWE due to horrid employee practices and political reasons the Hidden Gems and old content dumps would be the reason I would stick around even if I didn't care for the weekly episodes.

I wonder if they'll charge more for the classic content, they did have plans for a tiered format, but with Disney + being so popular at 6.99, they may not want to try to raise the price yet (yeah, different content, but audiences that surprisingly cross over).

The last thing you want to do is be lumped in with Netflix as the expensive streaming service....there's a reason all of the new launching ones are under 10 bucks.
