You may have heard of Madballs, but do you remember their action figure line? How about Army Ants? I've heard the weapons were either later re-used as GI Joe guns or that it was the other way around I had the skeleton Madballs figure and 2 others. In high school my best friend had a bunch of Army Ants glued to the dash of his car. I kinda stole that idea and always go a few figures on the dash of my car.

I had none of the over-sized Inhumanoids as a kid. Great stuff, though, wish it had lasted through at least another wave. Hahaha. Man I had this thing. I had no idea what it was or why we had it. It was pretty neat though with its' fleshy insides and opening/closing rib cage. We used to stuff random GI Joes and Ghostbusters in it like some terrifying horror movie and imagine that were being eaten/digested alive. Pretty grim thinking back on it. I think one time it had an epic battle with my Krang suit thing.
I was a pretty big fan of the multi-textured toys with soft/hard parts mixed. Or the he-man figures that would have "real" fur or moss. Though moss covered figures never had that moss for long.

I've heard an interview with Sunbow writer Buzz Dixon. Apparently the Inhumanoids toys werent selling that well due to the cost (even the smaller figures were still more expensive than your average GI Joe or Transformers minibot). The good thing about that though is that since the toyline was DOA, the writers could just make as many wacky ideas as they could since there wasnt going to be a product to promote, which is why the show ended up being dark horror mixed in with satirical jabs at the media and politics. It's a shame the whole series isnt on dvd or streaming somewhere.

Because Rock Lords weren't enough of self-defeating product, here come...fuzzy Rock Lords? --- Somehow, I never got any of the Ewoks or Droids lines as a kid; I barely remember them being in stores. I collected SW until the bitter end and was a fan of the STAR comics of both, so not having any is weird. --- These guys were great! There were no actual figures in this line, just beasts, chariots and weapons packs, meant to help round out kids' MOTU play. This particular creature I still have two of. Cheap bargain stuff from Imperial, but awesome and long-lasting. The weapons sucked, though. --- It's often forgotten that there were multiple scales of Shogun Warriors releases beyond the really big ones we all remember. Cool stuff. --- I didn't bother with this line during its' initial run (outside of buying the first issue of the STAR comic), but I ended up watching every episode 20 times each in the 90s when it was being re-run on...either USA Network or early Sci-Fi Channel.

I totally forgot about "Droids". Never seen it.
Elephonkey looks like he's Max Rebo's cousin.

"Realistic action"..."Exact replica"...uhm...yeah, sure. --- Robotech was one of those things I just never got into. I knew the cartoons and comics existed, but just never delved into it. --- I loved this show and I loved the figures. It's much-maligned, and I'll give the due on the cartoon, but the figures were top-notch. --- Another line I just didn't care for. They were too big.

I worked with a guy last year who collected action figures. He showed me a picture of a batch of those Chuck Norris Karate Commando figures he had picked up.

I loved Crystar. The toyline and comic. Danzig stole the danzig logo from an issue of the Crystar comic. I had a few of the Droids figures. Most of them came from K&B Drugs,I think it was a very regional Southeast chain. I kinda remember a M.U.S.C.L.E like line called G.U.T.S. The buddy that had the Army Ants on the dash of his car had a get GUTS figures on there also.

I dont think DoE was obscure in Europe , we played with DoE often....that and MotU Defenders of the Earth lasted one wave of figures and one season of the cartoon in one of the most absolutely crowded years of kids' pop culture. It's fair to call it obscure, I'd say.

This was one of those cheapie He-Man knock-off lines, with this line's gimmick being that every figure's chest was basically a snow globe. --- I never had any of these guys as a kid. Anyone here did? --- I think these are the only two figures in this line. Never heard of them prior to a couple of years ago. I really, really hated the laser gimmick so many toys had at the time. --- I had the two RoBeasts from the Panosh Place figure line, but as far as actual Voltron robots, this was the only Voltron I ever owned as a kid.

Based on Archie Comics' line of superheroes, I was completely oblivious to the Crusaders during their original run, only learning about them when I visited a cousin around 1990 and he had a couple. A very odd line in ways. No cartoon tie-in and the comic company behind them barely tried to help too, with Archie's relaunched MC-related titles lasting a year with very little fanfare throughout. --- Another attempt by Matchbox to invade the action figure shelves. I never had any of these guys - can anyone who did explain how that whole robot fits inside the car shell? It doesn't really look possible. --- Starroid Warriors were among the first Star Wars knock-offs, debuting in 1978. They were released over the next few years under various names including Space Fighters (as seen here). Some very neat figures, wouldn't mind adding a few to my collection one day. Love that 3.75 "Kenner" aesthetic. --- KNEEL BEFORE TINY ZOD!!! Everyone remembers the regular Mego line of Marvel and DC figures, but the 3.75s get little love. They definitely had subpar sculpting and posing. --- I remember these guys from the old hand-drawn half-page ads that used to run for them in Marvel comics around the 79-81 era I think. --- I had this guy after finding him at a garage sale, but I never had anything else from this line as a kid. Basically a Mad Max rip-off.

Couple of memories sparked from seeing these: -My cousin was at my house when we were 4-5 years old and had his Rambo action figure. We were watching TV and he had Rambo's head in his mouth the whole time we were watching TV and the black paint of Rambo's hair came off. He started bawling because Rambo was now kinda bald, so my mom took a sharpie and colored back in the hair. About 10 minutes later we were watching TV some more and he had Rambo's head in his mouth again and Rambo got bald again and now my cousin had sharpie all over his tongue. -Seeing the police academy one, I had a few of those and on this one, whose pants fall down and you see his underwear, my other cousin thought it'd be funny to drawn brown marker on his butt area which I never could fully get off: I had this growing up!!

Another line I didn't have anything from as a kid. But did have a few of: And they were awesome. --- Animax, an odd line I wish I knew more about. The original creator has/had a website that explains some of it but not all. Somehow managed to get a couple of issues into a Marvel/STAR comic run before the wheels on the entire franchise fell off. These figures barely got released, mostly in Canada and northernmost States, maybe. --- Did these ever show up in the U.S.? --- The perfect blend of awesome and "Did a blind person create this?"

I totally see this Voltron going into battle walking like Charlie Chaplin I had the big Voltron with the metal parts. Bought a reissue a few years back. I also had this one, and a vehicle Voltron version of it. It had lots of small parts with all those vehicles so I'm sure I lost them one by one.
