This might be an unpopular opinion, especially amongst my fellow horror fans, but...
Peter Jackson's Bad Taste. I had really high hopes for this one, given Jackson's body of work and his deep horror roots. But I tried watching this one about a decade ago and I thought it was awful. And it wasn't that it was low budget or goofy. I know and enjoy plenty of horror films that meet those exact criteria, and they end up being fun in an ironic sort of way. This wasn't "bad but ironically good", it was just bad. I could not for the life of me get into it, and I kept holding out, hoping there was something I missed that I'd catch eventually. An hour in, I shut it off and took it back to the library. For reference, the only other movie I can recall giving up on halfway through was an Uwe f***ing Boll film, so it's not exactly in good company. Maybe I need to revisit it all these years later with a fresh perspective, but I just remember being so deflated and disappointed after other horror fans had hyped it up to me.

Jean Claude Van Damme plays the EVIL Russian that cripples the main characters father... cause the Mob want to take over dojos... for... reasons >_> this movie also includes the GHOST of Bruce Lee teaching the main character how to fight... and Bruce Lee's actual grave... also after stating the Titular line the Main Character and His friend pretty much Immediately run away >_> also a training montage with things like this...

If you find some their early demos. Alice In Chains sounded like Ratt and Stone Temple Pilots well they just weren’t good.

She has dealt with brainwashing cults, Godzilla, and Thanos.. But by far this is the most terrifying thing that Lizzy Olsen has had to deal with: (Warning: you may want to mute your speakers for this) It still stuns me that Elizabeth Olsen is their sister.

Funny song is like “listen girl your adorable and all but don’t don’t forget who the real stars are, don’t forget who brings in the money here Liz” From what I have read the siblings get on... but it still reminds me of that creepy old movie with Bette Davis and Katherine Crawford “Whatever Happened To Baby Jane?”

Alot of today's high profile actors got their start in 80s/early 90s horror movies and many of them fit this description.

Lea Thompson, Jeffrey Jones and Tim Robbins all in for Tim Robbins it would be, but this is post Back to the Future for Thompson, Jaws 3D would probably fit closer to the early work of Thompson that is bad. And let's just say this isn't the worst thing Jeffrey Jones has done and leave it at that

In the late 90s there was a British drama called This Life about a group of young trainee lawyers from different backgrounds sharing digs. Now don't get me wrong it was rightfully critically acclaimed for its quick and original camera work, witty dialogue, strong female characters (before such a thing was mainstream) and positively portrayed LGBT characters (certainly before such a thing was mainstream) but ye gods the acting was shit, they went for the most inexperienced cast possible who would often end up delivering their lines stuttering and speaking with the emotion of a plank of wood.
Unsurprisingly most dropped off the face of the earth (the gay Indian plumber dude had a 5 minute spot in GOT before getting his head cut off) but two that survived were Jack Davenport who found success as Norrington in the Pirates of the Caribbean series, okayish actor but can only play one character 'pompous upper class twit' and Andrew Lincoln awful in This Life and hardly helped by his next big role being the creepy dude in Love Actually but he went on to knock it out of the park as Rick Grimes in The Walking Dead.

NOFX took eight years and two horrendous albums before they put out anything half decent (1991's Ribbed). As Fat Mike says, they are definitely punk rock's most improved band.

I love Braindead so I was eager to give Bad Taste a watch. I couldn't finish it.

Indeed.... Mom and Dad Save the World Jon Lovitz is hilarious in that. And Kathy Ireland, is...she's...hot. Another actress getting her start in horror...Mariska Hargitay in Ghoulies. Was GHoulies before or after Mariska was in JOCKS? Talk about a movie that went from decent sized hit comedy to being forgotten in the span of 10 years.

It makes sense that actors have been in bad movies early in their careers, it's almost what being an actor is about. Everyone has at least one embarrassing film in their early credits, because ya gotta eat.
My challenge is, can you think of any filmmakers, writers, directors, who have early crummy assignments to their names. Lloyd was already mentioned, yeah. But it's challenging, hell, even Steven Spielberg did Duel and that's still considered a minor classic of his career. The one that always pops to my mind first is James Cameron getting his big break with Piranha 2 The Spawning for Roger Corman.
And for that matter, Joe Dante getting his start on the original Piranha too, I guess. But that one is actually held in some high regard, even if it's just a Jaws cash-in.
