29th actually.
I'm glad it and Takeover spaced out, with Takeover on a Sunday there was at least a possibility they'd be back-to-back and that'd have been pretty damn exhausting.

They've got to get out of Chicago. If you're only going to do four PPVs a year, you can't do two in the same city.

Wow finally an event that actually takes place in Chicago. I just might go to this.

Long term projection: Cody vs. MJF here for the first time?

I’m letting them off since this seems to be linking with C2E2 which is a GREAT cross promotion opportunity. If it was another show there for no reason, I’d say it was overkill.
If it works, go to San Diego in July and New York in October. Why not?

AEW cross promoting with Cons could be a huge thing for them, like really huge.

If not not a cross promotion with C2E2.

I do think it’s an easier testing ground since they know Chicago.

The problem is that this should be a show like Fyter Fest or Fight for the Fallen. A major ppv in Chicago AGAIN is over kill. Half the shows the Elite make their audience pay for is in Chicago. Why not do this in the Northeast?

Eh, selfishly it works for me. I'm going to C2E2 that day so it'll be even more fun.

I do not think teaming up with a convention makes them look big time like a PPV show should. So imo these type shows should be shows akin to FFTF and Fyter Fest.

I don’t see why it doesn’t, to be honest. C2E2 is one of the biggest in the world. Not quite New York or San Diego but it’s a perfect place to make an attempt to see if doing crossovers like this works.

Inherently, by trying to piggy back off another event, you’re not as important. WWE or UFC would never have one of their four major shows of the year piggy backing off something like the Final Four or Sundance.

But if you’re trying to attract a new audience, an audience that has been growing more interested in pro wrestling as a medium and you have a shot to grab them, you take that opportunity to build that audience and goodwill. NXT and NXT UK has had shows at Download Festival in the UK for years now for this exact reason.

NXT and NXT UK has had shows at Download Festival in the UK for years now for this exact reason. And while not an outright show or anything, WWE has a major presence at SXSW every year. Also AEW isn't on the same level as WWE or UFC, so piggybacking on a massive con like C2E2 is a good idea to grow brand awareness and audience.
People underestimate how much crossover there is between wrestling fans and geek culture. Which is ironic considering that this forum is just that. I get being sick of them running yet another major show in Chicago, but the opportunity C2E2 presents is too good to pass up.
I think the WinTrust Arena is a smaller arena than the Sears Centre Arena they've run previous shows at. But it's still over 10k capacity and currently home to the DePaul Men's basketball team and the Chicago Sky WNBA team.

Also, to highlight the differences between C2E2 and the CEO fighting game tournament that AEW partnered with for Fyter Fest:
CEO Tournament - Around 1,400
C2E2 - Around 90,000
That's massive.
