I’m honestly still not over Cena’s last run and what they essentially did to the guy. Even this year, could you imagine Rock, Austin, Bret, Hogan etc opening a big anniversary show and having no involvement with anyone else and just fading away during that same opening segment? Like, I’m glad dude is happy and doing stuff with his career but man...even as not the biggest fan of his work sometimes, Cena basically saved your company almost single handed at a time when you really needed a Star like that. And you end up killing his drawing power and telling him to f*** off. This the same company, IIRC, said to Batista that Guardians wasn't going to do well. They don't like those who succeed without them.

John Cena got a segment at ‘Mania, where he played his 2004 self for some reason, and f*** all since. Like, I get the comparison but Batista could come back tomorrow and draw. I can’t say the same for Cena.

He’s prioritizing Hollywood right now, but I fully expect him to be back for short bursts when possible.

I'd like to see him do one more match at Mania at some point. I'll admit it, I'm gonna miss the guy in the ring.

I guess I’m in the minority here but I’ve actually enjoyed Cena more than ever (At least since his rapper days) in 2015-2019. The fact that he isn’t super human and can actually be beat by anybody has done wonders for me.
Funny enough, I actually prefer him in films.

At the very least I expect him back for one more big Mania match, but his time is basically done. If he wrestles 5 more serious singles matches I’d be surprised.

Arthritis in my knees, be damned!!

I don't see him returning to the ring while he has regular work in Hollywood because he's the kind of person who gives 100% to everything he does. He's not going to try to work in both worlds and jeopardise his film work, risking getting hurt and being replaced before he's been cemented as a reliable action star.
The most we're likely to get is an unexpected cameo backstage on Raw, or on a network show.... And that's good, he's earned a life beyond wrestling.
