Just thinking about how many fun "imagine telling someone five years ago" or "imagine telling someone ten years ago" discussions we've had over the years, but this is the first time in a long time that the major changes between December 2018 and December 2019 feel absolutely massive.
Travel back in time to December 2018 and tell yourself that:
- Kofi Kingston wins the WWE title clean at Wrestlemania - Women main event Wrestlemania with Becky standing on top - The Tom MaGee vs Bret Hart holy grail was found and shown to the public - CM Punk returns to WWE programming - Jushin Liger and Great Muta face-off in the ring at Madison Square Garden in their debut match in the arena - WALTER signs with WWE - PCO will main event ROH's final battle - All Elite Wrestling is a new high-level promotion backed by a billionaire with a weekly show in prime time on TNT - RUSH and Dragon Lee fired in the middle of the night by CMLL - Dean Ambrose will compete in the G1 - Impact becomes universally beloved and rights the ship - women will wrestle in Saudi Arabia - NXT moves to USA Network
That's just off the top of my head in order. It's been a wild year.
NOTE: I was going to say Smackdown moving to Fox, but by this time last year we already knew that.

To add on the MSG insanity, not one, not two, but THREE different promotions top titles were defended at the G1 Supercard. And two of the belts were non-WWF/E World Championships, a first since 1980.

I still think last year, at this time, was still bigger.
Daniel Bryan returned to the ring, became world champion, and was a convincing heel. Everyone liked Roman again. (After having to take a hiatus to deal with Leukemia)

R Truth is now a 37 time champion
Survivor Series, the one time each year that RAW and Smackdown go head-to-head, was won by NXT

The Becky one wouldn't surprise me because I was predicting that when she turned heel. The turn was too good.

Bray Wyatt returning as an evil kids show host who’s also a horror clown monster. This on top of being the most popular thing in WWE right now.

ROH is considered lower than Impact at its lowest. (I'd mention Bully Ray somewhere, but 12/08'ers knew he was an a-hole anyway)

ROH is considered lower than Impact at its lowest. No it's not. ROH still has a widely syndicated television deal, hasn't lied to the government about taxes, and hasn't lied to a wrestler's grieving parent about covering their hospital bills only to mark return to sender on the actual bills and causing the family to lose their family business restaurant.

Charlotte Flair would ONLY be at 10 title reigns by now.

Thankfully none of the Elite guys end up in WWE. Yet surprisingly Marty Scurll will still spend the entire year in ROH. Instead the rumors are true and Tony Khan is going to start his own wrestling company which will actually get picked up by TNT!
Master P will buy House of Glory from Amazing Red.
Speaking of Amazing Red he's going to make a comeback for NJPW. And he still looks pretty damn good.
We knew ROH was going to have some growing pains once the Elite guys left but we never could have imagined it was going to get this bad!
Even with Fox spending a billion dollars for WWE programming their programming will still suck and still be unwatchable.
People are finally going to start listening to what you've been saying for the last several months and find out that Impact is actually pretty damn good now. Even after they lose major stars like the Lucha Brothers, LAX, Johnny Impact and several others they just keep pushing on. Their parent company is going to purchase AXS TV and people will finally be able to watch them again!
This NWA reboot is actually being taken seriously. Jim Cornette's mouth will get himself and the NWA both in trouble. The Crockett Cup in the spring will be one of your favorite shows of 2019.

I think we expected that the RoH and IWGP titles would be defended at Supercard by this point last year. The shocker was that Jay White would be the one defending the IWGP World title.

Lower in standing and reception. Impact basically made an amazing Throwback show last week and are pushing Tessa Blanchard to the moon, ROH pretty much killed their NJPW deal with that stupid nZo segment that never got followed up on, spent half the year pushing Matt Goddamn Taven when they could have milked Marty Scurll while they still had him, and keep having incidents of terrible backstage politics making them look worse.

Elias is going to go heel again at the Royal Rumble, then they're going to turn him back into a face at the end of the year.
The IIconics are going to have a WrestleMania Moment™

Charlotte Flair would ONLY be at 10 title reigns by now. Fun fact: out of the 4HW she’s had the least time holding a belt this year. (200 + days for Becky/Bayley, and 49 for Sasha’s tag reign vs her reigns of twelve days, four minutes, five days.)
