AEW closes out 2019 in Corpus Christi, Texas with a bumper episode of Dynamite to cap off the promotion's first year of existence. Remember to observe the discussion rules for both this show and NXT: officialfan.proboards.com/thread/592137/rules-discussion-weekly-aew-shows
While the other show elected to lead off with a huge commercial free match, AEW are doing the same as Kenny Omega and Hangman Page once again join forces to take on the Lucha Brothers. Last week, Page tagged in when Omega had the match won against Kip Sabian and Shawn Spears, and while they've since discussed the incident, things do not appear easy between the two Elite members. Can Pentagon Jr. and Rey Fenix take advantage?
Two weeks ago, Chris Jericho was told that he had to wrestle one more time in 2019, and promptly compiled the LEXICON OF LE CHAMPION which mentioned who he would not wrestle (Jon Moxley featured several times). Jungle Boy did not feature, and so despite having the worst record in AEW (likely why Jericho picked him), he gets a chance in a non title match tonight... and it's a 10 minute time limit, so to win, he merely needs to last ten minutes. And last week, Jungle Boy got a visual pin on Jericho, so he has a puncher's chance, so can he get it done? And will Moxley get involved?
It's strange to feature a title match third, but this will likely be the main event - after defeating Santana and Ortiz in a Texas Street Fight last week, The Young Bucks finally get a shot at the AEW Tag Team Titles tonight as Matt and Nick Jackson challenge Frankie Kazarian and Scorpio Sky of SCU. It's a rivalry that predates AEW - will the Bucks celebrate the holidays with brand new gold?
There's also a number one contenders match this week, as number one ranked Dr. Britt Baker DMD goes up against one of the big stories of recent weeks in AEW, the number two ranked Kris Statlander, who has rocketed up the rankings since her debut. The winner of this match will challenge Riho for the AEW Women's World Title in Jacksonville on New Year's Day, so it's super high stakes, who books their ticket tonight?
Cody was "saddled" with QT Marshall last week against The Butcher and The Blade, and although Marshall performed better than expected, it was still a loss. After the match, Darby Allin came out and offered his hand to Cody, who he took to a time limit draw at Fyter Fest back in June. Tonight, Cody and Darby join forces against The Butcher and The Blade - will Cody fare better with a partner he feels more comfortable with?
From Dark Stable #2 to Dark Stable #3 (Dark Stable #1 are still recruiting), Awesome Kong is in action this week as she seeks another scalp for Brandi Rhodes. Who will be the lamb for the slaughter?
All this and much more tonight from 8/7c on TNT in the United States, TSN in Canada and FITE TV worldwide!
