Given the circumstances I really wouldn't think anything of it. There was bigger stuff going on in the news and NXT was putting on probably their biggest show to date.... and even they while they did better than AEW also dropped from last week.

Geez, that is a shame. Still maintain that I am happy as long as the show gets to stick around, but yeah, that is a downer.

I've noticed AEW's lower viewerships seems to coincide when Moxley isn't advertised to be on the show. He gets all the highest youtube views so might be something in that.

Wasnt NXT comercial free? Also Rhea vs Shayna on free tv was like the equivalent of Nitro giving away Goldberg vs Hogan imo

I wasn't wrong when I said NXT's gonna steamroll AEW this week, if that's true.

That's what happens when you hire Shanna and don't use her.

Yeah, I looked at it wrong, my mistake. Still, just having a very slight rise despite how heavy they went out proves the point anyway.

I think it’s concerning for AEW that the demo more likely to tune into those other proceedings/current events is NXT’s strongest demo. Without that, this likely would have been even more of a disparity.

I mean, it was all of the news shows being way up in the demographics compared to normal that led to both shows absolutely plummeting in the rankings so I mean, younger viewers clearly did turn in for all that, not sure what your point is.

People also need to understand that NXT went 9 mins longer than AEW. While having a stacked card. Both shows feel a lot because you can see the Impeachment played a massive role as all the shows that seemed to cover it dominated the list in general.

The point is that NXT’s audience skews more towards the 50+ year old viewer, which is also an audience that is more likely to be interested in the political proceedings. Yes , young people are also interested but a larger percentage of 50+ are likely tuning in to those proceedings on TV. Despite that, AEW went down a lot and NXT went up a lot. And not only did AEW go down in the young ad demo, but NXT went up in that same demo.

Without sounding like Russo AEW really needs to consider how to appeal to the casual fans.
