Remember when the Butcher and the Blade had hype and weren't jobbers? Blade has gone 6-3 since April. How is that a jobber?

Remember when the Butcher and the Blade had hype and weren't jobbers? I feel like the only time they had hype was the window between losing to the Bucks and joining up with Eddie Kingston...but they've always lost every match of consequence. There seems to be a thing where AEW views older midcarders as particularly disposable. Lance Archer is probably the standout...his booking before last night was often baffling. Peaking late or not, top prospect or not, Khan might have a policy of erring on the side of not enough wins for anyone over 40 unless they have main event name value already (like Jericho and Christian). It would explain a lot about the booking of Archer, Kazarian (especially last night - what other face with upward mobility would lose to Doc Gallows right now?!), and Butcher & Blade. Even if that's the reason, and even if it's not a bad reason on paper, it sucks because a lot of those guys are strong talents who have gotten really hot, and then their legs have been cut off.

Butcher has been pretty protected actually. Like his only actual losses have come to Moxley in a world title match and Darby Allin in a TNT title match. They clearly love that guy as he never takes the pin in the tag maches. As for Kaz... that was his only loss of recent memory. He hasn't taken a pin in a long time and it was heavily protected as he lost via heavy interference from Anderson. I don't really think AEW cares about your age. I think they try and find spots for everyone and try and put a spotlight on them. Like say what you want about Blade... I care more about him than I ever have thanks to the Cassidy feud. It's worked wonders for him even in loss.

There were a few changes to the roster page since literally yesterday, though I'm not sure of what exactly happened. Two things off the bat - they changed the spellings of the Nick Comoroto to Nick Comorotto and Aaron Solow to Aaron Solo. Also, Negative 1 was the last in his row, while Brodie Sr. was the first in his. Now they are next to each other in the middle of a row, which would mean two people were removed ahead of them alphabetically, but I can't seem to figure out who. was Mike Sydal ever on the roster?

How much longer will we have to wait and see for the fallout of Cody and Penta?
Surely it wasn’t a weaksauce feud that only existed so Cody could get the win over Penta in stupid fashion, right? Penta’ armbreaker, followed by being rolled up and losing not ten seconds later is going somewhere? There’s a bigger plan? People told me to wait and see!

They don't really need to go back to it right now or cross paths. It's something to come back to down the road I imagine but not something they're obviously gonna follow up on right now. Penta is dealing with Andrade and Cody Malakai Black. Both are in separate high profile feuds which might take them awhile to conclude (In Cody's case taking time off to also film Go Big Show and heal his own injuries) When they do cross paths again you have that seed planted. That "Remember what happened before?" sort of recap moment. I don't think it just happened for no reason, but it isn't the immediate plan right now to have them clash again

Sorry for long read (I hate writing my thoughts, I prefer to talk about stuff. It's easier for me to explain, but hopefully you'll get what I'm saying)
I figured I put this here. I really don't need my own thread and some may say I don't need this post AT ALL, but I felt it was my best way to explain the topic I wanted to talk about.
I will start watching AEW.....THIS COMING WEEK for the 1st full time ever and hopefully every week after.
Questions (I'll do my best to keep it short)
Q. Why didn't you watch from the AEW from start?. Multiple Part Answers.
A: Well, to be a honest I'm an a NXT fan and that was my show on Wednesday. It did kind of feel like AEW was taking that night from them. Now of course they weren't. That was my just my feelings at the time.
A2. Lack of people I care about. Well I appreciate the talent and they have lots of it. Cody, The Elite and Jericho just aren't my thing most times.
Now with seeing the growth of the product I can appreciate what they have done in terms of that and makes me want them (AEW) to succeed.
A3.Lack of money to watch the big PPV show/ matches they build only to not see them is disappointing. This is still going to be a problem, but I'm more willing to figure it out now.
A4. I couldn't find the thread, but I did watched the the first 5 minutes on demand of the 1st show and 5 minutes in with what in my opinion felt like a 3rd WWE BRAND With the big ass stage, huge pyro and of course from WWE guy Cody was the first match and well I've grown like him more interms of talent I was like f*** this. Again my bias brain wasn't ready yet.
Q: Why didn't Moxley draw me in?
A. It should have, but I let my bias brain say just another angered (rightfully) guy leaves WWE to **join insert TNA joke** made me less excited about. Plus again his opponents again didn't do much for me.
Q. Why pick NOW to start watching?
A. Well WWEs failings have help me move away from most of WWE main roster shows, BUT It's AEW program progression that has made me want to watch. Especiallyover the last few months with seeing the building of younger talent like Darby and Jungle Boy, THE TAG TEAMS! and a really good women's division. Oh and adding great talent that Vince tried his best to squash over the past couple year or so of like Ambrose, Miro, FTR, now Black and Andrade! Yeah I got to start watching!
Quick part 2 answer. I really want to see the bulid to ALL OUT. I want to see a star born in Adam Page (who I do like for clips I've seen) become WORLD CHAMP. I want to be part of something special even if it wasn't from the very beginning and I believe AEW gives that to me. I've see the light!
See you Wednesday đź‘Ť
anymore specific questions about this feel free to ask!

I’m pretty sure it was a crap two/three week feud that ended with Cody going over, because that’s what played out on television. Yes, there’s backstage stuff that not many people are privy to, but given how they jumped right into Nightmare Family/Factory, one can assume that Penta was used as a springboard to a QT Marshall feud. For what little it’s worth, I’m perfectly fine never seeing Cody vs Penta ever again. I’m sure Cody will feud with either Punk or Bryan when they come in anyway.

I think the key is that AEW is a "babyface territory", even with heels holding all the belts right now; when you're a heel, you're going to lose the big matches most of the time, which is pretty traditional wrestling booking but also something that sticks out more in the "prime time multi-hour mega cards every week on free TV!" era of pro wrestling. Still, yeah, Butcher at least has been protected the vast majority of the time; Blade always took the pins in tag matches they lost, and Butcher's gotten the singles title matches. ...I miss the Butcher.

The fans chanting “Cowboy Shit” in time with Hangman Page’s theme works so well.

Do any of you think Tony Khan might start running 2-nights of AEW PPVs?
With this huge roster plus forbidden door being wide open having Revolution Night 1 / Night 2 for example might be the future in my opinion.

There's potential in a two night special event especially if he does a joint venture type of show with a bunch of promotions. For AEW itself? I don't exactly know but maybe it isn't off the table. I'd love to see AEW represent at WrestleKingdom myself

It's wild how much bigger AEW's roster is looking than WWE's now, except most of it's used better.
That said, there should be some WWE releases that go to other companies too for balance.

Looking like there are and will be. I assume most of the releases will find homes in Impact, NWA, MLW or smaller Indies Realistically the only released talents out there now I'd like to see AEW scoop up are the former IIconics (Now IInspiration) Cassie and Jessie. Since it seems like one of the big reasons Britt is featured so much is she's a great promo. So get more girls who are reliable on the stick and maybe they get more time too. Other than that Murphy? If he has a thing he can do with Malakai Black out the gate he's a pretty low risk signing.
