The JR complain about saying Takeshita was from the Orient for some reason got blown out of proportion........ Haven't actually done any research into why people have a problem, I take it?

Dave Meltzer seems to think the Owen Hart tournament is going to end with Adam Cole and Britt Baker as the winners. Which would make me laugh because it would mean that the inaugural tournament named after a Hart would be won by….one of Shawn Michaels’ most prominent mentees. Britt winning makes absolutely no sense and I dread the 15 page thread that would come from it tbh. Storm beating her seems like the obvious route, especially when the Owen hasn't had any interference in the actual matches, but I guess we'll just have to see. Cole winning wouldn't upset me too much, he did just lose two world title matches in a row, though if Kyle makes it past Joe? I think Cole vs Kyle would be a great main event for the Owen as a whole. I know they teased an 8 man for the PPV, but it'll be weird if Kyle can't make it past Joe when Joe's arm just got a lead pipe taken to it, seems like the way to write him out, especially against a technical wrestler.

I can see Cole winning it. He's been a top guy since he came in and had the title matches against Hangman without winning, so the Owen cup would be a good get for him. I'd prefer someone else won as I'm not a Cole fan, but I can see the sense behind him winning.
I'd prefer Britt didn't though. Britt is already made as a main event star in the women's division and a loss in the Owen tournament won't change that. So, I'd like to see them use the Owen to lift someone else up to that level. Toni Storm seems a good pick - she's over, she carries herself well, and I think she's good enough in the ring. I wouldn't mind Statlander winning it either, despite coming into the tournament late. It'd be nice to have an AEW/non-WWE talent win one.

This is true, The Orient is the region, "Oriental" is used to describe things from The Orient, and is even said to be an outdated US term, hence why no one really says it anymore. If you look up "The Orient", there isn't anything really controversial about it. There are several Restaurants and Hotels in the US simply named "The Orient" too. I guess it's all dependent on how much you connotate it to "Oriental"?

And I already love bandanas, time to start acting like an asshole.

Fair enough. For what it's worth, the discourse I have seen is that the term 'the Orient' is still also racist because it still is a term defining the East as East and the West as West, and the only reason those concepts even exist is because the globally used map was made by Westerners Could I find any citation more robust than your single twitter user to back this up? Nope. So I got nothing. That said JR definitely gets way more shit than he deserves for some of the stuff he says. He can't just immediately be suddenly fully up to date on acceptable language. This shit is a process.

I haven’t watched any wrestling in a month or so. I enjoyed the Best Friends a lot. From what I gather, Yuta left, Stat left, Danhausen left, and Orange is hurt. Is all that right? I like them as a tag or trio, but I was digging the bigger stable too For the time being, but I do wonder if some of it with Kris is just since Orange is hurt, given she's moreso associated with him than the others. But yeah, Danhausen is courting Hook as a friend/partner, and Yuta's hanging out with Moxley and Bryan. Late on this, but there hasn’t been any reason why OC couldn’t be coming to the ring with Kris for her matches like he does for Trent and Chuck. So I doubt him being injured has anything to do with her not being associated with the group anymore. I think with her new, darker side they just want her on her own now.

If you check Janelas recent tweets perhaps they were right in trying to ghost him..... Set his boot on fire with no plan for what to do if it didn’t go out (I guess it was supposed to just magically snuff itself out?) at a mudshow with, apparently, no doctor or EMT or even fire extinguishers handy. And of course he ends up getting bad burns on his leg because their best plan to deal with the inevitable was a couple of water bottles at ringside. Stupid is as stupid does.

You figure him lighting himself on fire and going on twitter about it would be his worst twitter miscue in a 24-hour period, but … you’d be underestimating Janela lol.

I wasn't actively looking for it, but over the past few weeks I've noticed more younger kids in AEW audiences.
Just thought that was cool and something that could obviously help AEW.

That's definitely great for them. Obviously a more diverse audience with families and people of all ages is great, plus kids love wrestling merch haha

It's been a while since I watched AEW. I've been starting to get back into mix (seen the biggest moments and matches) and waiting for Kenny Omega to come back. > What's up with Julia Hart? Has she turned heel already? Kinda been waiting for the moment she gets more than just short showcase matches against veterans.

Storyline moving slower than molasses.
