Sorry that was a clickbait-y title, I actually liked Mandy giving Otis his due for winning the Christmas Miracle on 4th Streefight with the show of affection. This thread is me bemoaning the lack of decent male/female interaction, compared to the Attitude Era.
Think back on a ppv like 1999's St. Valentine's Day Massacre. It had EVERYTHING in terms of female Superstars and Male Superstars (and trans) represented in intermingled storylines-- something Today's WWE shy's away from. Today, there is a clear division between Womens matches and Mens matches save the seemingly aborted (but GREAT) Mixed-Match Challenge that just got dropped for no reason.
You had Goldust versus BlueDust/Blue Meaning-- two shameless drag queens going at it in the risk of one getting shattered dreams on the ppv stage... you had Ryan Shamrock being creeped on by Val Venis but ultimately her slapping Ken in the face for being an overprotective bro... you had Ivory's debut as Sexual Chocolate's love thang and Owen Hart smashing Double-J's guitar on Henry for the honor of Debra (who Ivory tried to strip nekkid), you had Chyna/Kane vs X-Pac/HHH where the faces (D-X) got MORE THAN X-PAC HEETZ for hitting real moves on Chyna, and finally you had the aftermath of WCW finally losing to WWE in the Monday Night weekly ratings war (the ppv after the RAW where Mankind won the WWF title) where The Rock and Mankind battled each other/earn each other's respect (some would say the highest form of heterosexual 'love' among men) to a countout draw.
I only can recall Zelina Vega, Lana, and Carmella (with the 24/7 stuff w/ R-Truth) being involved in any current men's division storylines right now, why aren't more unused talent involved in these types of mutually-getting-over storylines together? The Mandy/Otis thing has been teased for months and just finally now getting off the ground it seems like after Mandy/Sonya jobbing themselves into oblivion. Why can't the IIconics do something with Shelton Benjamin? I get the Dana Brooke/Elias thing is a weak attempt, but why can't we get Batista on Smackdown instead? Hell the whole reason she's over now is partly because there is a lack of this kind of entertainment on Smackdown IMHO
What do you guys think? Keep the Women's Division largely their own entity, or allow men to float over as female managers and vice versa (if talent isn't being used one way or the other)? It sounds like an 'easier said than done' thing, but again looking at St. Valentine's Day Massacre, they did a whole PPV on almost exclusively the romantic relationships they had setup throughout the year in storylines. That's pretty impressive to me considering the WWE could never do something like that right now.
