People have been divided on exactly what time of heat he is getting.
So to the masses, what type of crowd reaction is he truly getting?

A bit of both. Actual heel heat for live fans, possible X-Pac heat from people who watch at home and post about it online.

It sounded like heel heat to me when I was at the arena last night. I think Corbin is coming into his own as a heel and improved a lot since a year or two ago.

Absolutely 100% real heat. — A bit of both. Actual heel heat for live fans, possible X-Pac heat from people who watch at home and post about it online. This. Nailed it.

I think it's real. It's probably go away in terms of his opening promos (I didn't think his one yesterday was bad actually) but people want to see him lose actual matches and when he wins they boo.

Heat is heat.
You shouldn’t think any heels are “cool”. The idea is to piss you off and want to see them get their ass kicked.
Corbin ticks these boxes and as far as I know, nobody is tuning out because of him. So there goes that idea.
Corbin is a classic Bond villain. He reminds me of one of those guys you’d see Steven Seagal come up against in a movie. A classic bad guy with his shitty looking suit and douchebaggery.
I used to not like him but I’ve come to appreciate him now. He is a damn good heel and he might be the best in the company in my book. I would put Elias next to him but they seem to be ruining him with another face turn at the minute.

Corbin definitely has the punchable face and the smug, douche heel role down pat. It'd be hard to ever picture him as a babyface because he's just so damn good at being hated.

like last year when he was up and down the show for three hours? It was x-pac heat.
as he was actively causing people to tune out.
A heel's job is not "get booed" as far too many people seem to think it is. A heel's job is to make people want to pay money to see you fail and the face's overcome you.
It's probably a bit more natural now as they eased up.

X-PAC Heat. In fact, they should change it to Corbin Heat.

Some of the best heels are guys that you would never want to cheer in any circumstance. Not a cool heel. Not someone that could be your favorite wrestler. Just an unlikable SOB that does a good job playing the role but also there’s some backstage or go away reason that helps make a good heel a great heel.
There also needs a good balance of getting their comeuppance (Triple H even when he lost the next day was back at the top) but also need to not be a total jobber (Dolph Ziggler) I’ve felt this way a few times in the past few years.
The Miz (During his title run) Bluetista and now Corbin.
Im not saying give him a championship but man I want to see that guy punched in the face and that’s one of the selling points of pro wrestling.

He straddles the line, and last year and early this year it was X-Pac heat. But I think it's tipped more in favor of genuine heel heat this year. That said, with someone like Corbin, overexposure can send it right back into X-Pac Heat. It's up to WWE to show him in moderation without making him look like a goober. I don't think he's as good a heel as Jay White or MJF, but he can hold his own if WWE isn't wont to do WWE-like things.

Yeah, I hope he never turns face. As overexposed as he is right now, he is a good heel. Now, to be fair, he did work as a face for a match with KO on SD a couple years ago and the crowd was into it, but just because it worked for one night doesn't mean it'd work every night. Damian Priest, though, I can easily see as a face. He's like a cool version of Lone Wolf Corbin.

I voted heel heat as he’s gotten a lot better and the live audiences are vocally behind Roman Reigns in their program. That said, there was a collective sigh heard around the wrestling world when Corbin won their PPV match and their feud continued. He’s fine as a heel, but I don’t think anyone is tuning in to the show just to watch what he does and hopes he gets beat up.
There isn’t anything for us to grab onto to hate him. His backstory isn’t terribly interesting, he became a constable, GM and now King of the Ring. They let him retire Kurt Angle and he never mentions it. Real heel heat will be seen if Daniel Bryan wins the Triple Threat, Miz agrees to be in his corner and then screws him at the Rumble. Corbin hasn’t had any story or moment like that. He’s just kinda there with an above average push.

Heel heat. I think he gets it, and is really dialling into that to get the live fans and the IWC to hate him in equal measures within the confines of WWE broadcasting. I can see them strapping him up next year with the Universal title, and I'd be ok with it.

Funny you should ask as I was just talking to a friend of mine about how I’m now referring to X-PAC Heat as Baron Corbin heat.

Like it usually is, a mix of both. Live fans, for the most part, do go along with things even if they don’t like it. “X-Pac Heat” remains such a good term because it was during a time period when the fans always played along, were always hot, so having them turn on a performer really stood out. People booing Baron Corbin (for whatever reason) will pop if ...say...he is put in a match he doesn’t want, ergo he is somewhat of a success. That’s a successful reaction. Fans boo when they are supposed to, cheer when they’re supposed to. He gets heat.
Personally, I stopped watching any Baron Corbin match or segment a while back because I don’t enjoy him as a performer, which is not really what you want for your product; to actively avoid one of your featured stars. And I know I’m not the only one to have that reaction.

I agree with everyone saying 'both', but WWE likes to do things that skew the line of demarcation towards "X-Pac heat" territory like the dog food angle, the dog-costume angle, the yapping dog Titantron, needing literally 4 other guys to help him pin Roman, etc. Corbin is great enough as a heel to get boos without them doing all the theatrics IMO.
They should really stop having people kick out of the Deep Six too. If the Rock can get some pins with the People's Elbow, let King Corbin pin some face jabronis with the D6.

It varies person to person. I know I personally skip everything he's in. Can't stand him as a performer.
