I feel bad for the kids. To have your college career ended by a god damn pandemic.

As a UW Badger fan this sucks. I'm glad this is happening because safety first but I still feel bad for the kids, especially the seniors. To go from looking like a total mess in January to Co-Big Ten Champ and #1 in the Big Ten Tournament to nothing has gotta hurt for these kids that have played so hard to get to this point.

I'm a midge frustrated for the Hoosier women. I mentioned a few days back I was excited about them finally hosting a subregional, and that's gone to hell. But, you know, better safe.

I don't think Pitino got a show cause so this is not likely to impact him all that much at Iona. As far as U of L goes, I'm past the point of even caring. Just ban us this coming season (if there is one) and be done with it. At this point I am jumping on Dan Issel's NBA to Louisville bandwagon since I don't really see U of L ever seriously recovering from all this nonsense. It would a bit absurd to harshly penalize a staff and players that had zero to do with the Bowen recruitment and payoffs. Either way I think we're getting pretty close to a bunch of Power 5 schools just telling the NCAA to go to hell and breaking away.

I feel like in twenty years people will talk about the NCAA like we talk about the NWA today.
It's will sorta kinda exist and just keep limping along forever... but at like 1% of what it originally was

I feel like in twenty years people will talk about the NCAA like we talk about the NWA today. It's will sorta kinda exist and just keep limping along forever... but at like 1% of what it originally was We already have that example in Indiana with high school basketball. There once was a sort of feverish reverence with the sport and how intense things got come tournament time (I know people probably get tired of the movie "Hoosiers", but schools like Milan and Thorntown which inspired that movie that today barely exist go and win it all did give those towns a lot of civic pride). Then in the late 1990s, they decided to adopt the national standard of class tournaments based on school sizes, and while the intentions were fair due to the growing advantages larger schools were getting, it pissed off a lot of traditionalists and killed the allure of the tournament, and now people don't get as excited for four tournament champions instead of "the best of the best". Change is inevitable, but the truth is, sports are weird in the sense that people are so focused on how things should be that you must be careful about your decisions.

Oh, at this point I'm just waiting for the other shoe to drop. U of L is going to get nailed on a repeat offender charge. Kansas has 5 Level 1 violations pending though. How is that anything other than death penalty?

How is that anything other than death penalty? Because NCAA would rather not hand down a death penalty on a big money school if they can avoid it.

Kansas avoided the death penalty in 1988 mainly because Larry Brown jumped to the NBA and wasn't there anymore. Kinda like the Pitino firing now. The problem for Kansas today is that they haven't fired Bill Self and really haven't done anything about any of the allegations.
Kentucky actually did get the death penalty for a year in 1952-53. Oddly enough it didn't really hurt them all that much. The next year they went 25-0, but I think were still barred from the tourney.
