Probably won't happen now but, I'd love for Tana to win. Imagine how monumental it would be to see maybe the biggest star in the history of Japanese wrestling wrestle for an American world title on American TV. In what world is Tanahasi the biggest star in the history ofJapanese wrestling I mean, I'd only be able to see Misawa, Baba, Inoki, and Kobashi being ahead of him. Maybe not the most influential, but it's hard to refute that a man who single handedly saved a dying company from the brink to help turn it into the biggest company in Japan, and the first Japanese based wrestling promotion to gain a significant foot hold in the United States, is at least in the top 5.

I wouldn't say he's THE greatest, but let's not act like he's just some footnote in puroresu history either. He's up there.

Japanese wrestling was popping ratings in the tens of millions in the 90s. At one stage you could probably have called NJPW the biggest promotion in the world. Sure maybe Tanahashi is the biggest star in Japan today, and he definitely revived the promotion, but don't get carried away just because NJPW now has marginal western popularity as opposed to none.

Seems like a good compromise. Jericho loses at Wrestle Kingdom and get his win back on an AEW show. Or Jericho just wins and brags to the AEW fans that he denies then to see the dream match of their lives. Also the AEW championship has officially appeared on NJPW media. So that is one step closer at very least to some sort of cross over

If Nakamura was NJPW Undertaker, Tana is their Cena

Without question, he's the biggest star in Japan the past 10 years. He carried NJPW on his back and lifted them up out of the dark ages of Inoki

Tanahashi also starred in a special episode of the tokusatsu series GARO as Gouki, one of the first Knights to bear the Garo the Golden Knight title and use the Garoken sword.

Jericho doesn't have a match tomorrow, he's 100% focused right now on Tanahashi
