As a Brit and, as someone who also likes Triple H, he's totally bullshitting with this; look at how far PROGRESS and ICW (the two promotions that are affiliated with WWE, so they should be doing the best) have fallen! It seems like it's hurt PROGRESS more than it has helped them!

It's scary how business savvy he is. He's snuffing out the scene due to WWE'S WOS fear (that didn't pan out) and he's blasting the shindy promoters who aren't affected by this in the slightest lmao.

The bloom is definitely off the NXT-International rose now that the rest of the world has seen what WWE does when it starts "co-operating" with local promotions. WWE will not get the opportunity to try this again anywhere else. Even in the US the revived interest in the independent wrestling scene, brought on largely by AEW's rise, has seriously dented WWE's plans to monopolize pro wrestling, if not entirely defeated them.
If NXT-UK is still a thing by the end of 2020 I will be greatly surprised. More likely, its talent will either be merged into the main NXT brand and brought over to Orlando, or offered early releases.

Everytime someone says Triple H doesn't has the Vince mentality I say he definitely has, he is just a MUCH better politician. He didn't mature, he always knew how to please and suck up, dude is a master of the game,no gimmicks. The NXT fans are just another victim of his politics

This is his conquest and people seem to be aware of that. People are just hoping on the creative side that it improves under his direction, because right now if it's unavaoidable to have someone playing big corporate money man, they can at least put together a show that isn't as bad as 2019 Raw.

Honestly in a way it's a good thing that WWE did as much blatant damage to the UK scene as they did in such a short period of time because it pretty much means no one's going to let it happen anywhere else. I shudder to think how much things would change if they'd managed to pull this shit off in Japan.

In fairness I don't think they would've been able to be as devastating to the Japanese scene given that it's much more well-established than the modern UK scene (which was in a renaissance, no doubt, but still largely on the independent level), but yeah, I remember all that buzz about WWE potentially buying/working with BJW or NOAH to get a NXT-Japan going and those promotions shot that idea down quickly as hell.

Honestly I think if you thought WWE run by Vince was ruthless, just wait till HHH really takes over. He’s going to go way harder than even Vince would have back in the day.
The only upside is he is way more on the pulse of what we want to see in wrestling these days (NXT) and I think he is smart enough to get a team around him that aren’t corporate yes men. For now at least.

NXT the last 5 or 6 years was designed to kill off interest in indy wrestling. Why watch ROH,Evolve or any other indy promotion when all the biggest indy and international stars are in NXT? I always find it funny that HHH was so anti-indy wrestling for years now he’s using indy stars to earn street cred from smart fans. He’s got Terry Taylor & Jeremy Borash working for him in NXT they are the definition of corporate yes men in pro wrestling.

For now at least. Even then, he has to a) keep it profitable as a whole and b)be able to attract new talent to WWE when other choices are out there, most of whom will allow them to keep their ring personas intact, will follow fans' demands to a large extent, and will not try to destroy competitors in their own efforts to succeed. Trips may be smart enough to welcome honest input, but I don't think he's smart enough to know that wrestling has changed fundamentally from where it was even fifteen years ago. WWE isn't where the top talents go to do their best work anymore; it's where any talent with enough hype behind them can make the most money. The McMahons have become the ultimate money marks.

I would write a long post about why he’s wrong and a complete hypocrite on the subject but I can’t really be bothered.
All I can do is put it in two words; F*** him.

The UK scene will recover in time, if it could recover from the big Daddy era, it can claw back from anything. The only upside is that the damage done will serve as a warning to promotions in Mexico and Japan not to give the WWE any help getting a foothold as they'll strangle the life out of them in the end.
Hunter's end game has always been to make the WWE a closed system, where they control wrestling and wrestlers careers from from debut to retirement. It should come as no surprise he's happy to kill indies to achieve that.
