I was browsing the Technodrome.com forums and found that a member there put together a fanedit of the episode "Turtles to the Second Power", not much is changed at all except the ending.
The original version of the episode concludes abruptly, with Carter being put on a bus to the future and getting the last word while the Turtles just gawk at him going. In the new version, the episode ends with the final scene from the official series finale "Divide and Conquer", where Splinter tells the group they are no longer his students, but his equals.
Season ten had eight episodes, the first five were devoted to a story arc which saw the Turtles cure themselves of their more feral mutations and battle an alliance comprised of Lord Dregg, Shredder and Krang. The Turtles had to team up with versions of themselves from back in the eighth season, and Carter, as mentioned, left the group to work on curing his own mutation at the climax, almost every loose end was tied together, Shredder, Krang, and Dregg were vanquished and sent back to Dimension X, with Dregg's ship and resources destroyed by pieces of the sun. It was a story designed to be a worthy ending...and yet there were three more standalone episodes afterwards, two of which involved Dregg coming back yet again. It felt a little unnecessary.
Anyone agree? Do you think it would have been better had the show ended on "Turtles to the Second Power" instead of "Divide and Conquer?"

I like this alternative idea a lot better than what they actually did.

That scene really could work for the series eight finale "Turtle Trek" too, since that's when the Turtles "definitively" defeated all of their original enemies for good as well as The Technodrome.

As huge of a TMNT fan as I am, I've never watched most of the episodes from when it switched to Saturday mornings on network tv. I had kind of "outgrown" it at that point and then came back as an adult for the 2003 series and the IDW comics. I've since gone back and re-read all the Archie Comics, but never re-watched/finished the original cartoon.

The original series probably should have ended with the third season, that felt the most 'final' to me. For years I was convinced the show had ended too, as after they aired "Big Blow Out", my local television did nothing but loop seasons two and three. I learned there were seven more years of the show through sticker albums and visits to family members that could afford satellite. Did you ever watch Next Mutation? One thing I did notice in "Turtles to the Second Power", which is very fleeting and probably a case of me reading too much into something, is that April was glad she could contact Michelangelo most of all. I also get the feeling from watching choice episodes of the original series somebody intended those two to be endgame, long before Donatello/April was teased in the 2012 series.

I saw the first couple episodes of Next Mutation when they originally aired, but I couldn't get into it. I went in expecting a tv show version of the movie Turtles, and let's just say that's not what it was. As a fan of the original Power Rangers, I know I also saw the Power Rangers crossover, but barely remember it.

Largely because it utilised the Next Mutation versions. Are you following the new TMNT/Power Rangers comics crossover?

No, but that's only because I'm behind on current comics in general by about 6-8 months. I started re-reading a bunch of old DC stuff, and once I get caught up to present day, I'll re-read/catch up on TMNT, G.I. Joe, Transformers, Ghostbusters, etc.
