In 2020, the May Day Bank Holiday is moving. It’s normally the first Monday in May but for 2020 only, the Government have changed it to the second Friday in May. The reason being, Friday May 8th is the 75th Anniversary of VE Day, so it’s been changed to allow a holiday on that day
Unfortunately, some calendar manufacturers didn’t know this and people have been booking time off around that period as the Bank Holiday essentially gives a lot of people a paid day off without using their holiday pay. So as a warning, if you are planning a holiday around that time and are thinking of using this time of year to take advantage of the travel sales, take care, as prices are already expected to surge due to high demand that week.

Is May Day a holiday where the UK recognizes the talent and work of Brian May? It started about 2000 years ago, so Brian May is not quite old enough.

Is May Day a holiday where the UK recognizes the talent and work of Brian May? No that would be silly. It's to recognise the talent and work of James May.
