Seriously, the wrestling industry has the most amount of fans who seem to want things to never change? Like, modern wrestlers are getting an endless stream of hate for daring to wrestle like it's 2019 and not 1979. It's f***ing ridiculous how people want things to move backwards when it comes to pro wrestling and, yet, they'd be pretty pissed off if they went to the doctors and they used the 'old school' type of medical techniques.
I get that there's a lot of problems with the modern style of wrestling, but why would you want wrestling to devolve and go backwards? Like, I don't want to bash the old school style because I'm a fan of people like the Horsemen, Dusty, Magnum T.A and Terry Funk, but it seems like a lot of these younger wrestlers get bashed if they try and do anything that's more fast paced.

...you would be surprised about the doctors. Pseudoscientific medicine is a booming business.

Just another example of the "everything was better when I was a kid" nostalgia obsession that's plagued aspects of pop culture over the last twenty years. It's practically destroyed the comic book industry. Because of board rules I won't even get into how politics has weaponized it.

You may as well be asking why everybody doesn't unconditionally love everything.
Everybody is different. Not everybody is going to like the exact same things.

My biggest issues will continue to be the false finishes and over abundance of high spots making most moves and even finishers mean nothing.

While I think it’s flawed reasoning to assume that change is bad, it’s equally flawed to assume that all change is good. Evolution does not always lead to positive change. Sometimes a mutation makes a species more vulnerable instead of making it stronger. And sometimes it has no net effect on a species’ survivability at all. I think there’s been some of each of those ‘mutations” in wrestling over the past 40 years.
As far as modern wrestling, it has done many good things, but I think the lax attitude with kayfabe (both in matches and in storylines) is a mutation that could very well take the wrestling industry down in the long run. When people pine for the days of old, I think it’s less wishing for more 20 minute rest holds and more wishing for the matches and stories to have more internal consistency. Back when promoters were trying to make you believe it was real, they seemed to work harder to fill the logic gaps. Now that they know that we know it’s all a show, most promotions and workers seen less concerned with doing that, and it makes for an odd and confusing product to people who aren’t already wrestling fans.

I do not think it is a fear of change itself but that change will just make things worse than they have become.
Wrestlings biggest problem to me is its stagnation....specifically from a production standpoint and I specify this because to me the in ring stuff has peaked as far as it can humanly go...guys can only flip so many times , jump so high , and take so many near death bumps so it can't push any further.
The production on the other hand needs to start jumping leaps and bounds....every wrestling show looks the same with the same set up with the tron lit entrance way and ramp to the ring.
LU could be looked at as something a little ahead of its time because of what they chose to do ...vingettes that were not the stagnent invisble camera in the back while guy stands and gets interviewed.
creating whole sets for individual characters and stories to play out in and setting shows not in arenas or stadiums but in warehouses to create a unique atmospheres.
They blended the movie industry into wrestling perfectly and IMO that is to be the evolution of the business it is just that LU got there before the industry as a whole was ever ready for it.

312 superkicks and people think the Young Bucks are the greatest tag team since the Rock 'N Roll Express. I'll never argue the athletic ability, but when it comes to story telling, most wrestlers don't have a freaking clue.

Depends on what you mean by evolve. Some changes are good, some aren’t. There’s a difference between innovation, or repacking old with new, or just doing crazy stuff, whether insane stunts, or capitalizing on fads that won’t age ten years down the line. It also depends if the new stuff is done right or if it’s just throwing crap on the wall and seeing what sticks. Like making a cocktail and throwing in bacon grease and cigarette butts, it’s an interesting concoction but it doesn’t taste very good.

I'm fine with change and evolution, but wrestling has gone so far in one direction to the point where I no longer find it fun, or even accessible.
A match here or there I will enjoy, but from WWE to AEW to local indies, nothing really holds my interest.

Define 'evolve'. In what terms do you mean by that ?

I would like to see more psychology, long-term selling, deeper characters, and less finisher/big move kickouts, but other than that, I have no problem with wrestling evolving.

False finishes just need to f*** off. Not every match needs to be ""epic"". Especially those in the undercards of most indies. Also unless it's a match between somewhat established wrestlers, it's totally meaningless. I have to know who you are and who you've beaten in order for me to be awed by you kicking out of the other guys finish. Or even know your finish in the first place. (f*** you very much wikipedia from removing the moves section from Wrestlers entries.)

(f*** you very much wikipedia from removing the moves section from Wrestlers entries.) I hate that, too, because Pro Wrestling Wikia's not always up-to-date on wrestler profiles, even with their moves listed.
