Damien Sandow/Aron Stevens in Impact
Came into impact with a ton of goodwill and at worst should be a solid midcard talent. Comes in out of shape with the "no gimmick" gimmick that didn't work and a dumb Liberace type gimmick that killed him dead
He's doing better in NWA tho

TNA signing Hogan and Bischoff knowing full well that it was a bad idea.
Also:
Not quite in the spirit of the thread but: TNA Superman Jeff Jarrett. Midcard goof Jeff Jarrett doing his best reign of terror HHH cosplay to the delight of only himself. I honestly think that torpedoed TNA’s chances of ever being legit.

TNA, they had more star power than AEW but leave it to Russo to destroy the brand and fan goodwill, then Dixie calling DA executives dummies, and not paying talent on time.

TNA moving to Monday nights. They get chased off Monday after 9 weeks. It was pathetic.

As far as people that companies wanted to push in the early part of the decade, I gotta give it to these two folks: TNA: Crimson. TNA wanted him to be Goldberg, and even built an undefeated streak to boot, but the guy was a gangly, Conan O'Brien-esque wafer compared to the late 90s icon. Not to mention he's forever going to be associated with that one particular GIF that says everything about him: ROH: Michael Elgin. I really want to say "Matt Taven", but that's pretty easy. They had Elgin win the belt just after Adam Cole's nearly year-long reign, and in ROH, you either hold the World title for what seems like forever and a day or barely three months. Elgin was in the latter category, and his subsequent pushes and ultimately his own undoing helped cement this as a flop.

TNA: Magnus. TNA has had a lot of lousy world champion reigns in their history, but none compares to Magnus' 4 month run. Every victory was made to look like a fluke. His own lackeys insulted him in every promo. Even the commentators during his matches spent most of the match talking about how untalented and undeserving he was. I have no idea who was supposed to look good coming out of this.
Honorable mention to Matt Morgan, who split his career between last decade and this, was hyped non-step, particularly by Jim Cornette, and didn't do a single memorable thing in a 6 year TNA run.

TNA had a better roster and TV deal than AEW, and screwed it up terribly. Dixie had a chance to bring in Paul E, and she turned him down because he wanted to release everyone over 40.

Crimson's really the only name like I feel really counts.
Nobody else was really brought in as a "high draft pick" without already being a really well-known TV vet.
The only other name I can think of is Katsuya Kitamura.

Might as well add TNA in general
They were putting on good TV up to this point and in Jan 2010 is when Hulk came in. The roster itself was pretty good but Dixie let Hogan talk her into the Monday night fight which didn't even last past a few weeks.
2010: The horrible immortal bullshit starts 2011: Jeff Hardy fiasco 2012: Claire Lynch storyline 2013: Aces & Eights 2014: World Champion Magnus 2015: Lose the TV deal and go to Destination America 2016: Financial woes/ moves to POP 2017: Dixie gets bought out and Jarrett comes back 2018: Jarrett sues Impact and Impact stops Hardys from using Broken name 2019: This year actually been positive all things considered
I'm forgetting to put certain things or I should say don't want to make the list too long like the way they treated AJ, them trying to ruin AJ coming to WWE, Dixie getting put through a table and getting injured etc
