Hopefully that bye week re-energizes the Niners D back to what it was early in the season. Dee Ford is scheduled to return as well, which will be huge. (Assuming he doesn’t have a setback, but you never know with him)

I want to see someone brave enough to pick the Eagles over the Seahawks.
That game is going to be one mauling by Seattle if I ever imagine it.

This Patriots run is over......without that bye and time for old mans arm to rest, right now I'd be surprised if they beat Tennessee.

I don't know about that, Tennessee seems like a scrappy underdog going into this game, and there's no team in the league, maybe any league, better at crushing the underdog team's hopes in the playoffs like New England is.

The last time New England didn't get a first round bye they lost 33-14. Tennessee isn't the best matchup for them either, so overall it isn't great.

I think the Ravens or Chiefs are coming out of the AFC and the Niners are coming out of the NFC. Though I wouldn't sleep on the Seahawks, either.

I think it's a bit of a weird year but I still see the teams with the byes holding up as the likely reps in the bowl since its been forever since that has broken.
I think it breaks down like this...
WC Round
AFC
Tennessee over New England
24-13
Mike Vbrabel seems to have a knack for beating his old team. The physical defense they play mixed with Henry and Brown being an outside playmaker is just to much for a limping New England to handle.
Buffalo over Houston
20-16
I don't think this game will be very exciting, I expect punts galore as Watson struggles with top end defenses and the Bills have a crappy offense. I think the Bills defense basically wins this game as Allen just does enough not to lose it.
NFC
New Orleans over Minnesota
34-17
Don't really expect much of a game here, I don't see Minnesota as on the Saints level, especially being in New Orleans.
Seattle over Philly.
27-21
Philly just has to many injuries to win this game. I think Wilson is better at being a one man show than Wentz is and that is the difference.
Divisional round.
AFC
Tennessee over Baltimore
26-24
This is my upset special playoff pick. Baltimore sitting their key players for essentially 3 weeks goes a long way to throwing off your rhythm. Also Tennessee has a blend that can hurt Baltimore in that they can ball control to keep Lamar off the field while attacking deep with their receivers which is a big weakness for the Ravens. I think this will be a very tough physical game that will leave both teams hurting in the end. I think sitting for several weeks will have an affect on Jacksons accuracy also and it will show here.
Kansas City over Buffalo
27-17
While I like Buffalo's defense and think it's a top of the league unit, I don't think they can do enough to win here. Reid with 2 weeks to prepare will have enough wrinkles to score points while the Buffalo offense will struggle to keep pace.
NFC
Packers over Saints
31-24
I think the Saints are a more talented overall team but I am not picking a dome team to win in Green Bay in January, also Drew Brees is a significantly different player out of the dome.
Seattle over SF
27-24
These teams face off yet again and I think Seattle grabs the rubber match. They have so much more playoff experience and these things just tend to happen.
Championship round
AFC
Kansas City over Tennessee
31-21
Tennessee coming off of an extremely physical game is beat up here and just can't score to hang with the Chiefs in Arrowhead.
NFC
Green Bay over Seattle
34-20
Green Bay gets this win in the cold weather over a game Seattle team that goes further than anyone thought.
SB
Kansas City over Green Bay
35-27
In a rematch of Superbowl 1 we get a really good game here that showcases lots of offensive fireworks but in the end Patrick Mahomes establishes himself as the new face of the league.

I just don't see The Pats losing to the Titans. Could see Buffalo reaching the AFC title game though.

Predictions: New England over Tennessee. The Tannehill Renaissance goes down in flames. Sure, they'll reduce him to the role of Game Manager and feed the ball to Derrick Henry as much as possible, but Belichick and Co. have a well-established book on Tannehill and when he drops back to pass, it'll be curtains for Tennessee. Buffalo over Houston. This will be a game of weaknesses, mostly Buffalo's pop-gun offense (26th ranked pass attack & 24th in points scored) that features Devin Singletary, a consistently inconsistent Josh Allen and a bunch of vanilla midget receivers (All of them under 6') versus the Texans' bottom-tier defense. (25th vs. the run and 29th vs. pass). The Texans can barely stop anyone and the Bills can barely score on anyone. I can see the Bills D-Line hunt down Watson to establish field position and ultimately win it by a field goal or so. Saints over Vikings. Cousins should have his opportunities to get the ball to Thielen/Diggs/Johnson due to injuries along the Saints secondary (Apple, Gardiner-Johnson, Bell and world-famous goat Marcus Williams have been injured.). But, since Cousins can't be trusted, Cook has to be effective or the Vikings will get run out of the gymnasium and Room Temperature will get more agita. Eagles over Seahawks. The Seahawks are far too banged up to be considered a contender at this point, and their propensity to get behind in games and/or let teams hang around will be the source of their undoing. I believe the Hawks will be the only victim of Wentz and his merry band of nobodies in this postseason. Either that, or the NFC East sucks that bad and Seattle just blows through their obviously inferior opponent.

I just don't see The Pats losing to the Titans. Could see Buffalo reaching the AFC title game though. As much of a Bills homer as I am and I think they win this weekend. But they really don't have the offense to keep up with either the Ravens or Chiefs.

Just going to repost something I said a couple days ago: My gut tells me Saints vs Ravens in the Superbowl. They'll sell it as the ultimate match-up of Old School QB vs New School QB. And the game will end up being a 17-13 defensive battle.

Getting squashed by Seattle is worth it just for the massive Cowboys Schadenfreude that I got to enjoy these past 2 weeks.

Buffalo @ Houston
Buffalo's defense is legit. Houston has a knack for going ass up in the playoffs. That's a bad combo
Buffalo 21 Houston 14
Tennesee @ New England
The Patriots' run is coming to an end......just not this week. I do expect a dogfight, but I think Brady has one last hurrah left in Foxboro
Patriots 27 Tennessee 24
Seattle @ Philly
The Eagles are banged up, but I think Home field plays here.
Philly 28 Seattle 27
Minnesota @ New Orleans
I don't know why, but I don't completely trust New Orleans.
Minnesota 33 Saints 27

Anyway, here are my predictions for the first weekend of playoff football:
- Buffalo 23, Houston 21: Buffalo boasts a stout defense and a savvy offense that limits mistakes, and that should be enough to overcome Deshaun Watson, DeAndre Hopkins (who'll be blanketed all day by Tre'Davious White), and the Texans' offense. Houston is going to need its defense to force a turnover or two to get out of there with a win and I don't think Buffalo will make enough mistakes offensively to let that happen.
- New England 24, Tennessee 20: In any other year, the thought of Ryan Tannehill coming into Foxboro in January would have me as a Patriots fan licking my chops. But I was at Sunday's game against the Dolphins and I saw first-hand that there's something not right with this Patriots team. The offense is woeful, possibly even worse than the nadir of 2006, and the defense couldn't come up with any big stops against Ryan Fitzpatrick of all people. All week, the Patriots called week 17 a playoff game and they put out arguably their worst performance of the season, which does not bode well for the real playoffs. However, I still think the Patriots hang on to win on Saturday night, but the postseason road will not be long for this team.
- New Orleans 31, Minnesota 17: New Orleans is clicking at just the right moment, as the team that wins the Super Bowl often isn't the best team, it's the team that is hottest in December and January, and that's possibly these Saints. Minnesota will have a healthy Dalvin Cook returning, but he'll have to shoulder the load to get the Vikings a win in extremely hostile territory in the Superdome.
- Seattle 20, Philadelphia 13: I don't think this is the lay-up for Seattle that everyone is expecting it to be, but I still think the Seahawks escape. Philadelphia is a very pedestrian team, and while I'm not a full believer in this version of the Seahawks, Russell Wilson would need to fall flat on his face for them to not head back west with a win.

Go Eagles, Go Vikings. Don’t think the Vikings have a chance, but maybe the Eagles can pull it out over the also banged-up Seahawks... basically I don’t want Niners/Hawks Round 3. At all. Still don’t think the Niners can beat them despite what happened a week ago.
I’m pulling for the Pats, and think they have at least this round.
And Buffalo, I guess.
