So can anyone come up with a scenario for this belt based on the current roster that wouldn't just be a waste of time that could go to something better?

I guess your best bet is probably turning Sasha and having her vs. Bayley, but Sasha's momentum was so thoroughly wrecked by the Becky feud and Bayley's such a flat, generic heel that that still sounds completely limp.

I'm probably too sure about Baszler winning the rumble and challenging Becky. I don't see the possibility of outsider coming in and challenging Bayley. Looks like it will be someone from SmackDown's roster, if they don't call up anyone from NXT just before 'Mania.

If Bayley's still the champion, I'll choose Sasha as the opponent. But I seriously hope she'll drop the belt before that. Hmm, let's say she loses and she's out of the picture and booking team is wise 'nuff not to book a thrown together multigal match, my pick is: face Alexa Bliss (c) vs. heel Sonya Deville ~ !

Short of Shayna surprisingly going to SD I do not see anything else sadly except Sasha Vs Bayley.

And that would be ass because it would mean turning either one babyface for the feud.

SD needs bodies badly but idk maybe Nia depending on the state of her knees and how that whole recovery is going and Ember is still a ways away from returning.

If it's not Bayley/Sasha I'll be surprised. That's an easy match that they can do with 2 women who can work well. Give em 15 mins and they'll kill it.

Maybe a Fatal 4 Way with Bayley, Sasha, Nikki, and Alexa? I don’t think anyone in the match should be turning, but you could make some drama over either team possibly betraying the other.

It's hard to say but I'm guessing some sort of combination of Lacey, Sasha, and Bayley. Bayley against Sasha in a one on one is the only chance the SD women's title match makes the main card and I don't see it happening as you would have turn one of them face and they both just recently turned heel. Lacey/Sasha, Lacey/Bayley, or a triple threat all have pre show written all over them.

Carmella or Alexa being involved I guess are both possibilities too since both have always been big office favorites, especially the latter. However it seems like they've pushed Alexa into the background a bit as I think they've become gun shy with her recent string of injuries and Carmella while getting built back up the last few weeks seems like someone who they'll use as a filler challenger who Bayley beats either the Rumble or Elimination Chamber. I'm probably going to be wrong but I'll see a three way with Lacey/Sasha/Bayley. Bayley is just so ice cold as a heel right now that I can't see them giving her a one on one Mania title match. The fact that Sasha is who Lacey has more issue with and Bayley is basically coming off as a sidekick/lackey for Sasha even though she's the CHAMPION right now is telling to how weak of a heel she's been.

That mix is actually pretty decent, will probably be the most realistic plan as Becky/Baszler will probably be the singles match on the other side.

Conceptually I could see a Lacey / Alexa feud being fun, but in practice that match would be a f***ing disaster.

I don’t know why they thought turning her heel would be a good idea. She’s too much of a natural face.

In fairness, her face run was fizzling out too. She got a great reaction for the cash-in at MITB but her crowd responses died even with being booked strong enough to beat Alexa/Nikki two-on-one.

I think they were right to turn her, because her face act was dying a death and there wasn't much of anywhere else to go with it. But they needed a more concrete idea for her character than, "Okay, so what if we just take away everything interesting about her and replace it with nothing?"

Granted I'm also of the opinion that at the end of the day Bayley just plain isn't very good.

I think it's obvious it's Bayley vs. Sasha. Look at all the times Sasha touches the title and treats it like it's hers. Bayley will get jealous of that and turn on her.

A triple threat where Sasha and Bayley bully a babyface by double teaming her, argue over who gets the pin allowing the babyface to claim the victory, sowing the seeds for the two horsewomen to feud.

As to the third woman? Bliss would be the favorite as her face run seems to be well received so far, any nxt call up would do with Candice LeRae probably being the best fit, Naomi hopefully recovers from whatever is ailing her soon, they can always see if someone from the recent past (Phoenix, McCool) is interested in a goodbye run...many options but the title scene does need a bit of a shakeup there for sure.

I thought they had something with her when they were making her more of a delusional Bo Dallas type heel where she was cheating to win but yet trying make people think she was face while at the same time acting condescending. It was really the only time I've enjoyed Bayley in any way. Then they made her a "SRS" mean heel but she doesn't have the intensity to pull that kind of character off. The new look hasn't done her any favors either. I've never really found her that attractive but the short hair cut ages her considerably and makes her look about 10-12 years older then she actually is. Also not helping is the fact that as heels she's basically just Sasha's "muscle" even though she's the champion. I found it funny last Smackdown when they were kind of holding Dana Brooke hostage on the ramp to get Lacey to come after them with Sasha was on the mic goading Lacey while Bayley held Dana by the neck as if she was like Nia Jax or some kind of giant woman or something. Even though they're much better as heels as apposed to faces I think her and Sasha just need to get away from each other. It's not doing either one of them in any way especially Bayley who is just always overshadowed by Sasha. When they were faces she was Sasha's sidekick and now as heels she's Sasha's henchwoman.

I also have never been a fan and find her overrated both by the IWC and WWE. People always complain about how they've misused her but other then getting repeatedly clowned on by Alexa during that awful feud, she's always been booked pretty well. Multiple title wins, always prominent, a lot of wins on TV and PPV. I would say she's overachieved if anything when you consider that she's a poor promo and imo hasn't lived up to the hype in ring since she's been on the main roster. I know it might be a controversial opinion but I honestly thought Dana Brooke (who has never been regarded as good worker) actually looked better then her during their recent matches on Smackdown.

Bayley's spoken about how her character is meant to be like Eddie Guerrero playing a humourless heel who acted like he hated everyone and everything, but trying to be like Eddie is really hard, and I don't think the Bayley iteration of that character is working.

In terms of the Bayley/Sasha thing, I understand they're close friends and presumably love working together, but I don't think their being portrayed at each other's side for more than three years on the main roster has helped either.

Thinking about it, honestly wouldn't be opposed to Fire and Desire turning face and one of them facing Bayley, with the other presumably at ringside to counter Sasha.
