There have been a lot of rumors on the WWE futures of The Hardy Boys, and it's been reported that Matt's current WWE deal expires in February 2020. However, PWInsider reported today that Matt's current WWE contract expires on March 1. He will be free to appear for any other promotion on that date. It was also reported today the "major hurdle" between the two sides on a new contract is not money, but how Matt would be used creatively moving forward. Matt recently returned to action on the RAW brand and has lost 3 straight TV matches, to Buddy Murphy, Drew McIntyre and Ricochet. Hardy worked the Super ShowDown Battle Royal back in June, but his last match before that was on April 9 when he and brother Jeff Hardy dropped the SmackDown Tag Team Titles to The Usos due to Jeff's injury. Regarding Jeff's WWE future, his contract will not expire at the same time because it's been held up due to injuries and legal issues. Jeff was arrested in Myrtle Beach, SC on July 13, 2019 for public intoxication, and then was arrested for DWI on October 3, 2019 in Moore County, NC. WWE officials have reportedly pushed Jeff to address his personal health in the wake of his recent arrests, and he has been working hard at doing that. www.wrestlinginc.com/news/2020/01/what-is-keeping-matt-hardy-from-signing-a-new-wwe-contract-664439/

"Major hurdle"
It's not a major hurdle. Vince doesn't want to use Matt but doesn't want AEW to have him either, and Matt's made his money, so he's not happy sitting on his ass eating catering.
Either let Matt do the character he wants or part ways.

I'd be cool with both Hardyz leaving. The return was great, but they wore out their welcome with me pretty quickly after that. Hope Jeff turns his life around, though.

The story work Matt wants to do just isn't on Vince's radar. They barely manage like one storyline week to week as it is let alone the weirdness of the Broken stuff.
I wanna see Matt do All Delete Wrestling.

I think Matt will have one last run somewhere. Jeff I hope he can find the help he needs.

I'd like to see Matt in AEW, as he could probably help with writing storylines for the promotion and manage/tag with a younger guy so that Matt won't have to do a bulk of the work anymore.

Matt strikes me as an older guy that they'd actually bring in. Though I wonder how strong he could keep the Delete going without his partner-in-crime Jeremy Borash (who I doubt WWE would just let leave with him).

Yeah. I can’t see WWE investing a lions share of money and TV time just to get one guy’s character over

I think they should have Matt produce/ write, the rest of the Lana, Liv, Bobby, Rusev mess. Have him bring in the Broken/ Woken Universe into it.

Usually love my favorites in the E, but I hope he goes to AEW and gets his world title win.

The thing everyone really forgets or doesn't realize about "Broken" Matt Hardy was that the gimmick was tailor made to produce spoiler-free television on a taped show. The promos at the Hardy Compound, the Final Deletion, and its sequels all worked because they didn't have entertain a live crowd.
It's different in WWE, where every show that matters in 2020 is a live production, so Matt either has to come up with some different that works in the Monday Night Raw model, or go back to the drawing board and re-invent himself again.

Neff needs rehab and retirement. I wouldn't be surprised to see them offer Matt a trainer gig on the performance center, only for him to turn it down and go to Impact or AEW.
Yes I know things were acrimonious between Matt, Reby and Impact, but stranger things have happened.

I think the vignettes could still have worked. The Firefly fun house works without being live in the arena. Hardy just got too WWE-a-fied with him standing in the generic promo zone doing his stupid laugh instead of letting him loose with his camera in the compound away from their control.

If the WWE can help Jeff with rehab, and he takes it seriously, then it would be to his benefit to stay.
I've said it before, Matt has a fun and unique mind for wrestling that should not be stifled. Money is money, but sometimes a man has to create. #JoinDarkOrder
EDIT: I'm sure it's been said before, but what a story it would be if DDP could help Jeff if he left?

I’ve hardly seen anything of Matt in the last few years. He’s what, mid-forties now. Can he still go? Could he still be an in-ring asset for any of the competition or is he at that point where WWE don’t see him as anyone who would make a decent impact (no pun intended) elsewhere other than a brief nostalgia run? If they want to hang on to him, as others have said, see if he’s interested in a part wrestler/part coach position and send him down to NXT to help in some way or another.

Broken Matt could legitimately be a main eventer. Infact, the Broken Hardy’s as a team could’ve been excellent heels for The Usos or whoever. Maybe The Fiend could’ve put them under a spell or something... whatever.
It’s a shame they’re so stuck with wanting them to be “Nostalgic Hardy’s”... it’s ran it’s course. These guys can move with the times and remains relevant and modern so why do they insist on keeping them boring?

I want Matt in AEW so bad.
Jeff... I really don't even care. Be nice if he gets his head on straight but if he's going to keep getting DUIs I really have no sympathy left for him.
