If this was another week where Paul Heyman was running things instead of Vince I honestly could see it as Paul saying "send the guy out now for the next segment" without him ever informing anyone at ringside that he was coming. It's the sort of thing that Vince would get tons of crap for "micromanaging to death." Right, I could see it being something like this, where something got lost in communication, especially if someone not used to being on top of every detail didn't think it through.

It really says something when any time AEW, a year old company, and even younger on a weekly basis will have anything screw up or be pointed out like the punches by one dude in an entire group of people, the wrestling internet loses their minds, but when WWE has a total mess of a show, people will go silent or get pissy themselves when their double standard is called out. it becomes more prominent like this Tonights RAW showed WWE has just as much a level of incompetence as anyone else and can make very bad looking mistakes and they were throughout this entire show. I think AEW has every right to be criticized mind you, but the people who act they need to have everything figured out when WWE never seems to have shit figured out down to the constant rewrites of the show as the show is going on... well it's just not a good look when shows like this happen. WWE has had, what, 57 years to get this shit right (and I'm just talking about the WWE title history - they were a member of the NWA before then, so 72 years with radio or live events.) AEW hasn't had a full year on TV yet. Give it time and a few eager ears at AEW, and Dynamite will be beating NXT consistently in the ratings and creeping up on Raw's and Smackdown's. Should be noted that AEW turned the one guy’s lame worked punches into an angle via a Dark Order vignette, so they’re at least willing to fix mistakes and not stubbornly just keep going.

It not only fixed, but made things better in hindsight as that segment was freakin' great.

I think it was on purpose, no way they go to that camera shot and then slowly move away otherwise. This is the same company that almost gutchecked Gronkowski at WrestleMania, yes, they would do this on accident. The camera cut was probably also on accident and they didn't know what to do. Is WWE security in house, or outsourced? Fairly sure the security gal who stopped Gronk was not a WWE employee, but a security guard they either hired for the event or a security guard for the stadium. It's ultimately WWE's fault, because either their own people don't know who their own people are, or they're not friggin' telling the security company they hired who is and isn't legit.

It's usually arena security unless kayfabe'd up like how AEW uses "Atlas Security" for stuff so yeah, it's down to them not to say who is involved in the show and who isn't.

They are? Why bring attention to that? It was a gaffe much like this priest getting pounced upon. We laugh, it ends up in the annals of botchamania and we move on, eagerly awaiting the next hilarious botch

I think it was cos he was running. If he calmly walked round and up the steps he might have been fine.

Man puts on a finely pressed suit for his TV segment, rolls into ring like a log.
If I was security, I'd put a beating on him too!

It's AEW's willingness to accept guidance and correction (the Bucks' social media response aside, but even that was a smart move, really) that cultivates goodwill for them from fans and observers. To use Frank Zappa's analogy, WWE is that A&R guy with the record company that's supposedly hip and cool and knows everything about what the kids want these days, while AEW is, strangely enough, the old guy with the cigar in the 1960s who doesn't have a clue what's cool, but is willing to throw everything at the wall and see what sticks.

Bringing them into it is trying to start a fight with people. You and everyone else has to stop that. I just suspended and banned posters for taking that too far.

In other words, shut up about AEW in this thread and any other that doesn't pertain to them.

There's many signs that point to it being a work. They cut to it.They switched to another camera that showed it. The second angle slowly turned away from it instead of cutting to something else (a crowd shot, a match graphic). They referenced it in the next segment. Being he was a big part of the segment, someone sent him out then.
Now, someone might say "well why did he come out through the crowd and not down the ramp, and at that particular time and not during commercial or something?" To show how chaotic this whole thing has been.

Plus, the story today is that the guy was supposed to get in the ring during the commercial and jumped the gun.

Back in the day, I was a big TNA fan. I like all wrestling and WWE has been always my favorite promotion... But I wanted TNA to get big and challenge them. I followed the company from around 2005-2013. I stopped watching it around that time. Thought it all went downhill when they rebranded it to “Impact Wrestling” and changed the red theme to blue and did the whole “Wrestling Matters” rubbish. Oh, and they got rid of the Six Sided Ring. The only thing that gave them an identity. Nice to find another ex-TNA fan here! It sounds like your TNA journey was quite a bit like mine. I was a fan from the FSN days up until early into Hogan’s run. I even took the family to a Universal show on a vacation to Florida one year. Even though they spent much of that time spinning their wheels, they did a lot of interesting things during that timeframe, and I thought it might eventually rise to be legit competition to WWE. Of course, wishing for a decent wrestling alternative was probably a big part of it. Heck, I thought Wrestling Society X was more interesting than what Vince was doing at that time. To their credit, after TNA hit the skids, WWE started doing some things that drew me back in—the rise of Daniel Bryan, the Network, NXT on the rise, etc. But as is often the case, with the good came a lot of crap. Rarely has that been as apparent, IMHO, as it is now. Not only is it the booking—now things like this are creeping into the shows, where the left hand seemingly doesn’t know what the right hand is doing, so to speak. I don’t know if it’s because Heyman seems to be taking charge more or what. But even when booking or content were bad, Vince has pretty much always put on a high-quality presentation. Even worse for WWE, this is happening at a time when new competition is rising (both inside & outside of wrestling), and you’d think they’d really want to be on their toes.

This officiant deserves one of those fat 5 year deals that are going around if we’re gonna have weekly weddings.
