Better question: Why did they buy his contract? Yeah; it was a bigger question why they picked up his contract in the first place. He had the name, but already had heat due to the way he left the company the previous time, and wasn't any worthwhile shakes in the ring either.

He sucked.
Like, forget his being a weirdo or when he went to what company when.
Sean just wasn't that good, and WWE have shown they will anoint people with a good bloodline if they are remotely decent, but won't hesitate to jettison someone if the have to.
So I agree with the people asking - why the f*** did you take him back? You literally hired better jobbers from WCW. You MOSTLY did!

He was originally fired from WWF for secretly recording private conversations in the locker room. Then his contract was bought out, but he spilled the beans in an interview about the planned WCW run-in during the McMahon street fight at Wrestlemania, which caused creative to scrap the role thing. I can certainly see how that would not ingratiate him amongst the decision makers in the company. Bill Demott said on a shoot interview that initial plan for the WCW guys to run in during the Shane/Vince match, but Stasiak blabbed about it on a radio interview. But then, if you listen to Something to Wrestle With WM X7, Bruce says there was never a plan to have WCW invade the street fight. Bruce claims that Vince was completely against that idea, as he wanted to keep the focal point of the match to be about himself, Shane, and Linda.

Basically he left the last time on bad terms after being fired for being a dumb ass and then had to come crawling back after WCW was bought out, so they just gave him a gimmick where he would get buried and humiliated all the time. Seriously was there ever a reason given as to why he was recording conversations with other wrestlers other then being a weirdo? Like why would he be walking around with a freaking Talkboy and recording conversations with British Bulldog and Steve Blackman and why would he think this was a good idea? I remember in Billy Wack Haynes shoot interview this ended up getting brought up for some reason and in one of his out there conspiracy theories he said that Stasiak was using the Talkboy to record Vince so he could have proof of how evil he is and how corrupt in the inner workings of the WWE are but they caught him. I thought it was funny and laughed pretty hard although looking back I feel kind of bad as Billy is clearly insane and out of his mind. *Stasiak walks into the locker room* "Hey, guys! I love it when it's just us wrestlers here, and no management. Anybody wanna tell horrible and embarrassing stories about how Vince has treated guys? Make sure to speak loudly and clearly, and if you can...into my duffel bag."

He came too early.
If he arrived when Evolution or Legacy came around, he would be a better fit.

He will always be guy Kurt Angel defended in his debut match. Not a bad footnote in history.

I seem to recall an interview where it was explained that the tape recorder was just a brand new toy to him that he was fiddling around with, but some of the people he recorded took it serious and reported him for it.

He was a former WWF star. He was the SON of a former WWF champion. He wasn't really all that good, or at least had nothing about him that stood out. His father was a transitional champion whose reign lasted 9 days and was just used so the WWE could move the title from Pedro back to Bruno. It's not that impressive a lineage. It's one of those things where, if he HAD been good, Stan Stasiak would have been built us as a huge legend, but that didn't happen so he remained a footnote. Is he even in the legacy wing of the HOF?

I remember laughing my ass off when I saw this segment. www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVd183LEaekShawn offers Stone Cold some coffee... and pays the price for it. "Debra, call a paramedic! I don't give a damn about that man! I think I burned my mouth!"

Return Promo: He's meant for the NWA with that type of promo. Let him dethrone Nick Aldis for the gold. Missed opportunity for his patients to call him "Dr. Meat."
