‘‘Twas Bad. I’m purdy good at tuning commentators out but Brandi was a serious detriment. Go away or change-the-channel heat, if you will.
I was looking forward to Statlander Vs Riho too. I get not wanting to have that be decisive..but the execution of this was off.

At this point, I feel like the best solution would be for the Nightmare Collective to wrestle a collection of the faces (Shida, Swole, Statlander?) and have them on the ropes, then lose when Brandi tags in. Kong and Cruise decide they're better off without Brandi, Brandi has to basically start over in the division as a loudmouth heel while the two monsters keep being monsters.
Because right now, the sum of the parts is just messy and incoherent. There are a lot of good parts in there, and they would probably work better if separated.

Yeah I was really looking forward to that match and they blew it big time.
Nightmare Collective might win the Gooker the way its going. It's already a candidate

Just awful. Brandi is far and away the worst thing in this company and it sucks because I know she won't won't get removed from tv due to her marriage status. Like, even before the collective interfered, I couldn't enjoy the match due to her horrendous commentary.

I don't wanna jump and blame Brandi on this.Feels like she is the easy target.
I just want then to wrap this up honestly, they managed to turn most things around but the sooner the faces beat the collective into nothing the better

I just want then to wrap this up honestly, they managed to turn most things around but the sooner the faces beat the collective into nothing the better I'm very much in agreement because, like...the women's division has in fact been fine outside of this. Baker looks to be turning a corner with a heel turn, Nyla is absolutely rocking it as a character, Statlander and Swole are the charismatic rising stars they need, Shida can have a good match with anyone, Shanna's a good hand. The women's division has also gotten really good use out of the ranking-based booking, with the rises and falls of various wrestlers establishing a pecking order while we waited for the champion to come back. So like...back to that, less vague heels with all the faces getting along against them.

Brandi continues to be the dirt worst.

There is one issue and that is Brandis ego that seems to be as big as Jarrett or Hogan. Idk but its like AEW Women division consist of two halves. The Kenny half (great wrestling) and the Brandi half (nonsensical sports entertainment). The women division wont get fixed if you replace Kenny with a better booker, as long as Brandi is there.

I know they want Title matches to mean something
But at some point you gotta say "f***,might as well be a double DQ."

I’d also have Kong and Cruise take the “Collective” for their name and just drop “Nightmare” to signify that they don’t need Brandi’s guidance.

It was terrible which is sad because up until now AEW hadn't produced anything truly dreadful (for all the reasons people have listed, Brandi too actively burying talent was the worst part IMHO). That said I can't give the segment a pass.

This is the type of segment where you go "yeah this isn't it)" and rush it along to finish.

Now that I've seen the segment, my real issue is Brandi's commentary. Jericho needs to pass down that talk about how outright burying your opponents accomplishes nothing, because she was far on the wrong side that line when she was insulting them, particularly Statlander.

This was kind of a stark point about how little AEW cares about booking stories within their women's division vs their men's tonight. Just compare them...
-Dark Order comes out after talking about recruiting guys and goes after an older dude struggling, who resists and his teammates then back them up then the Young Bucks (who had a mutual respect loss to them but also were attacked by Dark Order) chased them off. So everyone has a developed reason to be there, it all makes sense, etc.
-Nightmare Collective comes out and repeatedly ruins the match to help RiHo win, I guess, for no particular reason? They had basically been doing nothing but appearing here and there for months, there was no understood reason for it. Then Swole/Shida come out to help, because...reasons? None of these connections are fleshed out, there's no consistency, it's just a goddamn mess.
I still enjoy AEW and they have a talented women's roster, but the booking of their division has been considerably worse than NXT or even Impact.

Somebody needs to get in Brandi's ear and tell her that this ain't it. I get she likes to get all meta shooty even in her promos but her whole idea from the fan response here is an ass hair away from being shitcanned or seriously retooled. Nows not the time for taking potshots online

That was awful. Like seriously awful. She didn't sell her team at all, her gimmick at all, or the women at all, she even buried Excalibur I said it in the thread but how the f*** is she married to someone whose every cell gets how this buisiness works and she absolutely understands none of it yet?

Guys who you have to be a super hardcore fan to know about getting surprise debuts while Excalibur vomits in to the mic about how he knows who they are is quickly becoming one of the worst things about AEW. Like, this was already awkward as hell when it happened with Blade & Butcher, and now they're doing it with a guy that's even more obscure.
Gives me bad flashbacks to the WHAT'S ____ DOING IN THE IMPACT ZONE era.

That was a comedy spot. Not a segment you were supposed to take seriously.

Blade and Butcher, I feel like they didn't think "you'll know who this is", but they should have probably just not had Excalibur have a name for him if they didn't want him to further clarify, with the Blade thing. Just be like, "One of them's Allie's husband, but why are they here?" or something, and keep it mysterious, if you don't want to infodump. They went too far one way, not far enough the other. This one was just badly handled no matter how you slice it, though.
