I can't blame them for finding themselves behind the wheel of a large automobile on the road to WrestleMania.

I don't remember much about the second match' build up, I remembered it was pretty underwhelming. It was still pretty cool such a big match could be made, once and a second time - got no beef with that.

As a serious post, I agree the main event at WM29 really should’ve been Cena/Rock/Punk.

If and as Rock was avaible, I think he more than deserved the spotlight too. I've no idea how they did not have any sort hope in Punk to sell 'nuff that year...

I still remember WWE trying to say that 2012 was the worst year of Cena's career.
You know, the year where he main-evented Wrestlemania, won Money in the Bank, and won feuds against Kane and the at-the-moment heel authrority in John Laurinitis. Even the feuds he "lost" outside of The Rock were all via screwjob (Punk via Shield debut, Ziggler via AJ turn).

CM Punk vs. Undertaker. Streak vs. Streak. Should've been the true main event at Wrestlemania 29. Make Rock vs. Cena 2 non title and mid-card. Would Punk be wrestling naked? What streak would he have on the line?

Seriously though, Mania 29 should have been a triple threat Rock vs Cena vs Punk. Without question, the story was there Punk made his heel turn official on The Rock and had a feud with Cena that spanned months. Even if you have Rock winning the title at the Rumble, you can have Punk use Heyman to enforce his rematch clause whenever he wants due to his historic reign

In speaking on the first match tho, that is one of the last times along with Bryan/Orton/Batista where the main event actually felt like a main event and one the crowd was absolutely going crazy for
The match itself is probably a bit underrated, tho a part of me still thinks it should have been vehicle for a heel turn for Cena instead of the dumb storyline he got and that bad feud with Kane

It was a chore to sit through all of it, and screamed of Hogan levels of "I need my win back brother".

I still don't understand why they had to have The Rock challenge CM Punk on the 1000th episode of Raw to a match at a PPV that was 7 months away at that point. They should have just had an interaction and a stare down. Punk still could have turned heel and attacked The Rock. All it did was just make the show completely predictable from Raw 1000 all the way to WrestleMania 29.
