Died the same day Terry Jones of Monty Python died, and now Kobe's death cancels the "funeral."
Take that, corporate America...?

And the planned Superbowl Funeral has been axed after Kobe's death. I just got 2007 flashbacks Wonder what ad is going to be shown in it's place...

Also...maybe, just maybe, mock deaths aren't good ideas for commercials. Or other things.

Also...maybe, just maybe, mock deaths aren't good ideas for commercials. Or other things. Killing off an advertising icon is never an good idea to begin with, furthermore the Death of McMahon angle was stupid in hindsight, it took Chris Benoit doing what he did one June night in 2007 to put the kabosh on the story-line. {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}The Death of Optimus Prime in the 1986 Transformers movie which led to backlash among both fans and parents, to the point where Hasbro had no choice but to reverse their decision on allowing Duke's death. While the scene was kept, replacement dialogue was inserted stating that Duke had gone into a coma. In the film's ending, it is stated that he had come out of the coma.

I'm sure glad he was fine after that snake spear thing burrowed a hole through his f***ing heart.

Actually, if I'm interpreting the article correctly, the Super Bowl ad is still airing. It says they're pausing "paid media" like Twitch and YouTube, but that plans for Sunday haven't changed.

A classmate in high school, maybe sophomore year, decided to dress as Mr. Peanut for Halloween. I don't know why a sophomore in high school in 2002 would choose Mr. Peanut, but he did. Did he buy a Mr. Peanut costume? No, perhaps he was feeling crafty or perhaps none was available. He came in a homemade Mr. Peanut costume. The hat and monocle were not noteworthy, but the peanut shell body was.....unfortunate looking. First, instead of yellow, the bulk of the body was flesh colored. A flesh colored sack. The texture of the peanut was done on the costume in black piping. The black piping was not secured well to the flesh colored sack and popped off it in all directions, resembling hair. A hairy, flesh colored sack. He was "Nutsack" for the rest of high school. Poor guy. Then again, I can't really imagine what it would be like to go through all of that work, only for it to fall right on his face.

Unless I'm misreading things, the Super Bowl ad is still going to take place as planned - they paid way too much money to back out now. They're just holding off on the promotion FOR the ad on some platforms.

Originally the issue where Superman died was going to be the wedding issue, but because the people behind Lois & Clark didn't want the comic to do it first they had to switch gears. It's a stupid reason, yeah, but given the circumstances I let the Death and Rebirth thing slide in terms of overall quality.
