Aside from the Royal Rumble appearance, Mr. Perfect’s 2002 run was remarkable for sadly how unremarkable it was. He was only in a handful of televised matches which usually lasted less than 5 minutes and most of which he lost. The. He got fired for horsing around with Brock Lesnar on the Plane Ride From Hell.
However, on Cagematch.net it looks like Perfect had some unexpected matches that would at least be fun oddities to watch. I doubt all of them were properly filmed, but I’d be interested in them.
Some things include
Beating a rookie Brock Lesnar, not once, not twice, but thrice!
Tagging with a young Dave Batista (then Leviathan) against Shelton Benjamin and Randy Orton
Tagging with Shawn Stasiak and Molly Holly of all people for different matches

I was so happy when he came out for the dark match before Wrestlemania X8 but so disappointed at the same time.

Man, what could have been if not for the Plane Ride From Hell. I really feel like that if Curt had stayed in WWE, he had at least a better shot at getting clean. I could honestly see him being the Nick Bockwinkel type who can still pull out 5-star broadways in his 50s and being able to give the newer generation a run for their money.

Yeah it was on Heat, didn't he put a towel over his face to protect himself from Rikishi's stinkface? As for his short stint in 2002, I feel like if it wasn't the plane ride from hell, it would've been a different thing he gets fired for.

I vaguely remember his match with RVD on Heat. Yeah, it sounds like dream match potential. But in actuality it’s a cookie cutter match that goes about 5 minutes.

I marked out when I got to see Mr.Perfect vs Goldust in a dark match at Insurrextion 2002. It was the first time I seen those two lock up and Perfect was playing the face.

Probably the coke Even if he stayed out of trouble I could see him getting the old "creative has nothing" release that so many got in that era sooner then later. They clearly didn't have anything for him which was surprising as you would think they would've had something planned for him with how well they had him do in the Rumble. In one of the most star studded Rumbles ever washed up Mr Perfect made it all the way to the last three along with Triple H and Angle. There was plenty of other options and big names they could've went with too. RVD, Booker T, Kane, Big Show, Undetaker, Stone Cold. Being a huge late 80's-early 90's WWF mark I was pleasantly surprised watching it live at the time to see Perfect staying in there while all these top stars were getting eliminated. I thought at the time he was in store for a big push but nothing came of it as he just toiled in the lower midcard and mostly just put guys over until plane ride from hell happened.

It seemed that way after the Rumble because he got signed for returning in top shape going in. Than after that I recall facing Austin on Raw. Mixing it up with top level talent. Than quickly he faded down the card and was losing a lot which took away from being Mr Perfect which having him put over new talent was the right thing. I still think if he stayed and was clean. He could had another I-C run feud with people.

I remember him having a decent match with Edge on Heat where they actually did a DQ finish to protect him which was odd as around that same time he was doing jobs for Tazz and dog house era Big Show neither of whom were getting pushed that much. Looked like it was maybe the beginning of a program between the two but nothing came of it.

Perfect vs. Austin was a loosie on COD. I wasn't watching weekly at the time so to me this sounded like a dream match. I think there's a Bossman / Perfect vs. Hardy's match from Heat. Which sounds like something that could only happen in a video game. I can tell you from my current SD 2002 rewatch that Perfect never appeared on SD. I am up to July now and I kept hoping to see him but it never happened.
As for Perfect's 2002 run, he got the usual bring in the vet as a JTTS run that we've seen so many times. Currently MVP is in the roll. Just like the Dudley'z a few years ago and countless other stars have done countless times.

I don't think they had anything for Perfect for that time.
It sucks because, come on, it's MR PERFECT. The dude was such an amazing all-around talent that he would have killed any role you give him. Even if he was just Eric Bischoff's second in command on Raw.

Didn't he Perfectplex Big Show during this run? That was pretty cool.

He definitely did it in WCW, but I think he also did it in WWE in his final run. He still lost the match, since Big Show kicked out, but I remember being impressed.
