I had the sudden realization that things that seemed like they took forever to happen, or that feel like too much time passed between, now in retrospect pale to things today.
Example: Time between Edge retiring and returning: almost nine years
Time between Morrison leaving and returning: just over eight years.
Time since John Cena main evented Mania: almost seven years
Time between the NWO forming in WCW and the NWO showing up in WWF: less than six years
What other examples of these surprising periods of time stick out to you?

I can't believe the night Nexus showed up on RAW will be 10 years ago this summer.

Matt and Jeff Hardy both had matches on WWF television before Rhea Ripley or Velveteen Dream were born.

Bruno Sammartino was WWWF champion for longer than Steve Austin’s entire active WWE career.

The three longest tenured current full time Superstars are Randy Orton, Dolph Ziggler and The Miz.

Vince Jr has now outlived Vince Sr by five years.
Lesnar's current run is four times longer than his first.
Chris Jericho is now older than Hogan during his 2002 title reign.
The combined age of the six participants in the Armageddon Hell in a Cell stands at 313 years.

These facts are both really interesting, and also making me feel really ancient.

The first wrestling show I saw was nearly 21 years ago, 8th March 1999 RAW (seen on the Saturday after):
D-Lo Brown defeated Owen Hart in a Steel City Streetfight (4:33) Billy Gunn & The Road Dogg defeated Al Snow & Hardcore Holly (2:09) Ken Shamrock defeated Goldust (w/ The Blue Meanie & Ryan Shamrock) (1:21) Test (w/ Chyna & Shane McMahon) defeated X-Pac (w/ Triple H) (3:55) The Godfather (w/ Hos) vs. Steve Blackman ended in a no contest Tori (w/ Sable) defeated Luna by DQ (0:39) Mankind defeated Steve Austin by count-out (with Paul Wight as Special guest referee) (9:01)
I've seen one of those wrestling on that night, wrestling on TV in 2020.
Two if we count special guest referees.
21.37 mins of wrestling on that night.
Theres been 2 Andrade/Rey matches on RAW in the last 3 weeks that went within a whisker of being longer than all the matches on my first show put together!

Chris Jericho is now older than Hogan during his 2002 title reign. OK this one is freaking me out a bit. Hogan just somehow seems so infinitely ancient(I say this as a fan of his wrasslin). Jericho being older than 2002 Hogan just somehow seems impossible. Its like Hogan is something out of Cthulhu and no wrestler can ever be older than ancient one Hogan.

NXT’s Austin Theory was born one day before SummerSlam 1997, the first WWE PPV that I can remember buying.
NXT UK’s Xia Brookside was born three days before Bang! 3:16.
We’re coming up on 18 years since the name change to WWE.

I think the biggest thing here is that Chris has taken breaks and made a habit of reinventing himself. Hulk was the same character largely for something like 13 years, had a major reinvention but apart from the time period between WCW closing and NWO showing up in WWE he was rarely off screen for lengthy periods of time. Plus, by his 2002 title reign Hogan had been going through the motions for quite some time whereas Jericho is still working to put on great matches.

At the time of the Billionaire Ted's Wrasslin' War Room skits mocking how senile and decrepit he is, Hulk Hogan was the same age AJ Styles is right now. Here's another one: If you were watching the Attitude Era as a teenager, you are now older than Hulk Hogan when he slammed Andre the Giant. It's the skullet. It always makes Hogan look like this crazy wrestling grandpa.

When Harley Race was Triple H's age in 2020, he'd retired as Vaders manager.
Nia Jax, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Baron Corbin, Keith Lee, Dawson, the Bella Twins, BRAUN, Kenny Omega, Heath Slater, Drake Maverick, EC3, Roderick Strong, Alex Shelley, Rene Dupree, Nattie, Maryse, Jack Swagger, Maria Kanellis, Primo, Sonjay Dutt, Balor, Kofi Kingston, Asuka, Rowan, Fandango and Trent Seven are all now older than Owen Hart was at the time of his death.
There is a longer gap between Eddie Guerreros death and today, then Vince McMahon Sr's death and Stone Cold Steve Austin's first WWF Championship win.

It always makes Hogan look like this crazy wrestling grandpa. There's that, plus Hogan's excessive tanning and, as the '90s wore on, his hips getting increasingly busted. It all added up to make him seem older than he was.
