...and if you have, what was your opinion?
Fun story: I was sleeping last Wednesday afternoon preparing for night shift, when I get a text from my brother "Want to go to SoxFest with me and [our friend]?"
I'm trying to sleep, so I text back "I could."
So, this long story short, we're there at McCormick Place on Saturday.
There's a mini-field where some teaching will be done for kids. "Bat Flipping by Tim Anderson", "Pitch Framing Tips by Zach Collins", stuff like that.
There's a rather large area where game-used items are for sale. Jerseys from players you've forgotten about (hello Matt Davidson, 3rd baseman of the future), hats, extra giveaway items like bobbleheads, shirts.
Plenty of baseballs where they have the entire "lifespan" it was in play, which was neat. (Who was at bat, when, pitch count, what type of pitches thrown, result.) They were like $5-10 each.
Broken bats (cool), lineup cards posted in the dugout. A lot of cool finds.
They had seminars: minor leaguers and what they're thinking, Eloy and some other new guys talking to kids, Danny Fahrquar (the pitcher who had the brain hemorrhage during a game last season) and Michael Kopech discussing comebacks from injury.
I sat in to hear manager Rick Renteria, GM Rick Hahn & broadcaster Jason Benetti talk about the State Of The Sox, which was very insightful on expectations and strategy involving the new rules.
Of course, there are autograph & photo tables everywhere. There's Tim Raines. Harold Baines. Leury Garcia. Jose Abreu (dude is huge). Radio color guy Darrin Jackson looking like he's giving someone a hard lecture. Dylan Cease. New signee Yasmani Grandal.
I had a good time. Personally I'm not into autographs as if I was a kid, or a photo OP, but it was quite an interesting experience I can say I've done.
Interested in what you thought of your visits to one of these events.
