Having recently rewatched alot of this era it’s so much worse then the attitude era from a risqué & trying to be controversial standpoint. It’s really sad how desperate they came off. HLA? Bill and Cock? 3 Minute Warning? Miller Cat Fight Girls? Scott Steiner? I hear ya.... Not to mention a certain fictional ex-cheerleader.

To be honest, I'm not really interested in this given a few obvious reasons, such as how the quality went downhill. I know I said in the past I was partial to this era, but that applies to 2002-2003, and even then, there was a lot of crap that does not hold up well (the idea that Molly Holly is a bad person for not wanting to degrade herself, Katie Vick, Al Wilson), which goes into my #1 complaint about this era, which was the fact that women were treated as nothing more than slabs of meat for fans to beat off to. Sure, it was like that in the Attitude Era, but by the early 2000s, the social climate changed and the wave of edginess that permeated throughout the mid to late 1990s had all but been scrubbed clean (unless you were Jeff Zucker with NBC... *cough*Fear Factor*cough*), so this notion that women were nothing more than boner aids was pretty lame, and it was even worse if you watched SmackDown, where the women had no championship to fight for, meaning storylines revolved around who was the biggest skank (sorry, but when Torrie Wilson's entire WWE resume revolved around fighting over her Playboy credentials). Coupled with the Triple H "reign of terror" and the fact that countless wrestlers were brought in or brought up only to be cast off or given up on due to bad booking like the New Generation Era, as well as the retroactive issue that is Chris Benoit which negates a huge chunk of topic points from this time period... do you really want to talk about how "great" this period was? That is true, but at least the product back then is better than today, and thats saying something.

I'm really curious about this documentary because the Ruthless Agression era is the one era of WWF/WWE programming in which I don't really have a firm grasp, because I didn't watch it live. I stopped watching WWF altogether right around the start of 2002 and didn't come back until 2006. I can't really explain why I stopped watching, I guess I felt as a teenager that I was sort of aging out of wrestling and it was that sort of nostalgic feeling that brought me back about four years later.
Anyway, this feels like a documentary series I'd rather see in the hands of someone other than WWE, because I'd like to see an honest portrayal of this odd time in WWE history. On one hand, you had the rise of the SmackDown Six and the arrival of the next generation of WWE legends (Cena, Orton, Lesnar, Batista), but on the other hand you had some of the company's worst angles in history (Katie Vick, Al Wilson, the wedding of Billy and Chuck, HLA). So that led to an era where the company had one foot firmly planted in the past (the Attitude Era-esque risque angles) but also had enough in-ring talent that it wanted to focus on the future.
But at the same time, you still had relics of the past like Hulk Hogan and The Undertaker as WWE Undisputed Champions, the nWo was in its death rattle, Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock were still getting major on-screen time, they just couldn't decide what they wanted to be, so they decided to be everything. I hope this series at least addresses the flaws of the Ruthless Aggression era and some of the mistakes that were made that led to plummeting ratings and buyrates, while at the same time celebrating what paved the way for the future of the company.

I can already tell I'll be annoyed by the episode about Evolution.

Just starting this now, seems pretty good so far? I can't recognize the voice of the narrator though.

The glossing over the name change to WWE is one of their all-time greatest historical revisions.
"Vince knew there had to be a change, so he showed some real attitude and it WORKED!!! World Wildlife what? Wildlife, that doesn't even sound like a real word, that's something you just made up, let's talk about Stone Cold walking out now."

Here we go.
What better way to start an era about the early 2000s than by talking about the mid 1990s?

RAW in 1997 was a weird combination of the mid 1990s WWF and the Attitude Era. It didn't get crazy.
Eh... Since it helps their narrative. That's all they care about.

"Is the wrestling phenomenon over?"
I mean, not for a lack of Vince trying.

The stars of WCW... who would not work the show and had to sit in the cheap seats.
Plus top stars like... Buff Bagwell & Hugh Morrus!
