David Price isn’t going to play this season The players who have gotten their money already and/or still have a ton of money left on their contracts after this season have no incentive to play, so it wouldn't surprise me if players in that category are the ones who sit out (Trout, Price, Harper, etc). Buster Posey is another player talking about potentially sitting out, but he's made $120m+ in his career and has another $25m guaranteed in 2021. I'm curious to see what Betts does. Obviously he doesn't want to catch the virus, but he's also playing for a monster contract. If he sits out a year he'd probably still get a huge contract, but at this rate with the way owners and players are at each other's throats, there is no guarantee of anything if you don't have a long-term contract already signed. Mookie might not have a choice. In a regular season played, he was primed to make $200-$250 mill at least on his next deal Now with a shortened season and owners expected to be frugal, I think he walks away with $150 mill. He’s either going have to take a one year deal and do it again 2022 or take what he can get

He’s either going have to take a one year deal and do it again 2022 or take what he can get Yeah sucks for Betts. He turned down extensions and correctly bet on himself every year, and now will either have to settle for a one year deal heading into a potential lockout season or take the best deal he can get which could be $100m less than what he could have gotten if Covid never happened. He could have been like a lot of players and took guaranteed money far less than he’s worth but he rode it out. Hopefully a team out there gives him a huge deal. In other news, Felix Hernandez has opted out of 2020. Another guy who has made over $200m in his career. He was not going to make much in 2020 but if he invested his money wisely he is set for life so no reason for him to play. Owners might actually like the 2020 season if the top earners sit out.

The MLB will announce their schedule at 6 PM eastern. Meanwhile, the A's and Nats at the very least are having delays in testing results.
This is an absolute farce.

Apparently a few teams have been waiting more than 72 hours for results and still haven’t gotten them. If MLB is going to lax on testing, then there’s no way this season will happen. Maybe it’s due to the holiday weekend but they need quick turnaround on these results otherwise there’s very little way to ensure player safety.

That's nothing new, been saying that and i'm a yankee fan. I hate the facial hair ban and the fact you got to trim your hair. Tho Cutch had dreads when he was on the team, they aren't as hardcore with hair as they used to be Yankees are slow to progress but people need to make a stand on them for this. It is old and outdated. Yankees used to have a ban on tattoos up until CC and Burnett got signed and they said f*** that noise i'm not covering it

And MLB is already looking into another lab for testing.
Keep botching this up Manfred.

There’s no one really outside of the Rays that would move and we’ve seen how that story has gone. MLB should keep expansions in mind...Nashville, Montreal...

Oh Boy! I hope if Tampa (or Oakland) Doesn't get their stadium situation in order, they might be the franchise moving to Music City

Cutch cut his dreads in 2015. He didn't have them on the Yankees. He was growing them again when he was on the Giants/Yankees Yeah, but those are totally covered by the cap. He wasn't long haired Cutch. The Yankees didn't care about short hair like that.

Which was my point earlier. They aren't as hardcore with the hair anymore because he would had to cut that before he got to the team. They weren't making Gary cut his mohawk and Cutch wasn't going to have to cut his short dreads he was growing again However, they shouldn't have that stupid policy in the first place

Rays are actually a great org, just ownership who doesn't spend. They'd do well in a new market, especially given they have the top prospect in baseball by a decent margin. Plus, maybe they could spin it to get out of the AL East.

Plus, maybe they could spin it to get out of the AL East. The Rays just need a better location for the stadium. That's been the big issue for them, their stadium is located 30 minutes or so (on a fast drive) away from anything, so not much public transportation. Who wants to drive 30 to an hour and half to go to a stadium not near much, that has a bad look? The Rays are usually among the top teams when it comes to local television ratings. So there's an audience there that wants to watch Tampa, it just needs to not be a massive hassle to get to the stadium.

The Devil Rays play in a box that looks like it should have Central Florida’s largest Sunday Flea Market rather than a baseball team
Also has the Florida problem. It’s full of transplants from the northEast who have their teams they support
