I also don't get why guys get banned 50-60 games for PEDs and masking agents. Steroids are a part of baseball's history. Tons of guys have used them. What's the deal with punishments for cheating? Super weird....

Stephen A Smith said something on First Take that I like. Instead of pitchers hitting Astros batters with pitches, every team that plays the Astros this season should shun the team before and after every game. Don't shake hands with them, don't interact with them, even turn your backs to them when they take the field. The cameras will see that and that does speak volumes more than a few pitches might. Public shaming is a powerful weapon.

They'd def complain about that shit but there is nothing wrong with it outside of "bad sportsmanship" which the Stros can't complain about It is crazy the Yanks don't play them until Sept because that's going to be a scene

They play in Houston in May and I'll bet my bottom dollar that the Houston fans are gonna rain hell on the Yanks.

Well yeah that's what I meant, here in NY cause Houston should be crazy but depending how hard Yankee fans move to Hou, it might get crazy I do wonder if Houston will hit one of the Yankees for talking shit

The shit the Yankees get from other fans, is probably shit they get just going through a checkout line at the supermarket. Playing in Yankee Stadium, they're baptized in insults from fans.

Man, if I'm a Yankee and some Astros piece of shit intentionally hits me for disapproving of his team of cheaters, I'm charging the mound with a bat.

I'm imagining constant booing with pauses for cheers everytime there's a strike call, especially if it's Judge or Stanton at the plate. And I'm sure a moron or 2 will bang trash cans in the process.

Various clubs complained about the Astros' potential cheating for years before MLB started its investigation. Manfred and co. basically had to be shamed into it by public pressure. What a stooge.

Let’s see Big Papi run his mouth if the Sox get punished for cheating shenanigans too. He better ask why no one in that locker room said this isn’t ok either.

Yep, it was mentioned that the Athletics were the first team, and there were others. It's also been reported that teams were warning each other about before a series against the Astros. The whistling in this past season's ALCS was noted by fans, and Hinch was even asked about it. After Altuve's homer to win the ALCS, Rosenthal made a point to mention to him that he was ready for that 2-1 pitch, and ask him why he didn't want his teammates to rip his shirt. So, reporters with connections knew about the complaints (Rosenthal knew and had to be given that shirt question especially). I think they were all waiting for MLB to do something about it. Fiers forced the MLB's hand by going public.

On one hand, I disagree with David Ortiz pointing the finger at Mike Fiers instead of the Houston Astros, but on the other hand, I tend to agree with him (and anyone else, frankly) who calls Mike Fiers a massive hypocrite. He only decided it was the right thing to do to point the finger at the Astros after he got a World Series ring and a couple of multi-million-dollar contracts out of it. Where was all this righteous indignation while he was gleefully pouring champagne on his teammates after game seven of the 2017 World Series?

Well the thing is with Fiers, since he was the blow the whistle on the whole thing he controls his whole narrative. A lot of Stros are saying they wished they stop it or should have spoke up more but didn't but he did for whatever his reasons he may have In the end, dude got what he wanted and wasn't trying to get waxed by them everytime they faced knowing they'd been cheating.

I think that is more so the reason why he is talking because this stuff with the Astros fell on the Red Sox thanks to them getting caught too But yeah, Red Sox day of reckoning is coming soon too once we get the proper details on them The last two World Series champs (before the Nats) have had some type of cheating scandal but the cheating resulted in them getting a ring and no players thus far getting in trouble. Whatever other teams that's cheating will continue to do the same because the consequences were shit

And maybe Fiers did try to get it stopped before going public about it. As we saw, Manfred seemed to be content to sit on his hands and not do anything when this was going around as a badly-kept secret within baseball's inner workings.

Which is why he has been given the benefit to an extent because this was reported to MLB and they did nothing. He didn't tell anything that wasn't already known, it is just he is instantly credible because he was on the team Also another thing to consider, I think if Stros had dirt on other teams they would have been talking loose for sure. I can't see them getting shitted on constantly and sitting on potential info of other teams

Fiers goes to MLB about it, and he gets brushed off. Knowing that he went to MLB, as did the Athletics, and apparently other teams, Fiers says "f*** it" and goes public to force Manfred's hand.
