Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: Giancarlo Stanton injured. www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/yankees-giancarlo-stanton-suffers-calf-strain-could-be-out-for-opening-day/So for those of us keeping score: Luis Severino (TJS, done for the season and most of 2021.) James Paxton (Back, out until May/June) Aaron Hicks (TJS, out until after the All Star break) Giancarlo Stanton (Calf, doubtful for Opening Day) Aaron Judge (Shoulder, status unknown. With the Yankees luck, he’ll be out until May.) The entire starting OF on the shelf along with 2/5 of the rotation. Team made of glass, I tel you. Yanks said Judge shoulder ain't really bad, just a "precaution" Luckily they have depth but that pitching staff took a hit as you even still got dumbass German on the team and he's suspended (Don't kno why they didn't cut him)

It was only his first spring training outing, but Edwin Diaz looks to be the 2019 Edwin Diaz so far. Oy vey.

So much inconsistency with Stanton and so many good seasons surrounding a couple of elite seasons. Add the injuries into that and it’s a bust.
Fortunately for the Yanks they can absorb that

Fortunately for the Yanks they can absorb that The scary thing is even with his health being suspect, he's got over 300 HRs. Add a few healthy seasons and he's probably over 400 and you are talking about a guy who may end up with over 600 HR in his career. This is his 10th season coming, and only in 4 he's played 140 games or more

Report came out yesterday Judge needs more test done on his shoulder
That’s not good. What the f*** is going on with Yankees medical. People who were out all last year or majority of it still came back f***ed up. Sevy has to get Tommy John, Giancarlo is going to miss opening day and Judge probably as well

Ya know what it would take for me to like the Astros again? For them to put that stupid hill back in their outfield with the flagpole in the middle. That really broke up the monotony of baseball fields. It was a terrible idea and I loved it.

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: Giancarlo Stanton injured. To this day I don’t understand why Cashman took that contract. A long contract like that attached to a player in his late 20’s coming off his best season is the wrong time to buy. He has 8 more years left on his deal, is heading into his 30’s, and is battling injury. The Yankees can afford the payroll hit but once Judge, Torres, etc, get paid real money it will start to add up. The Marlins got a lot of heat for that trade and all their other trades but they’ve actually rebuilt pretty well. Lewis Brinson flopping hard hurt them badly since he was the main part of the Yelich deal (though Monte Harrison and Isan Diaz could be decent) but for their most part Jeter and the crew have done a decent job building up their farm system.

Because they got him for nothing and Marlins was willing to throw in some money. Yankees didn’t have big contracts a few years ago so it was a worthy risk that only cost them money because they can afford it

Now the Marlins ate up a portion of it so that eases the burden but surprised someone as smart as Cashman took that risk to begin with. I’m hoping Stanton bounces back because when he’s on he is exciting as hell to watch hit but I’m not sure how many elite seasons he has left in him.

I'm feeling high on Clint Frazier this season, wonder when he'll hit the 60-day DL tho....

Their eyes were bigger than their stomach. They saw Stanton for "free" and knowing they didn't have to pay people like Gleyber, Sanchez, Judge for years they took that plunge and I don't really mind it per se because Cashman got him for a little less then market value if he was a free agent However, this came with a big risk and as we can see, the risk is here very early with years left on that deal. If Stanton and Judge can get 140 games a piece out of both of them, you are looking at 75 HRs combined between the two but it hasn't happened yet

It is his own fault for signing the original contract with the Marlins but he was grossly underpaid. This at least gives him a contract on par with the type of player he is/value he brings.
