Florida probably isn't the best place to be having games right now, but maybe that changes in a couple of months. Regardless, if they can start the season on July 1 (or thereabouts), then they could probably have a 80-100 game season regardless of where the games are played and if fans are in attendance. That's looking harder to imagine as each day goes by, but they still have time.

With Florida being such a hotbed, they’d probably have everything moved to Arizona, right? It wouldn’t make much sense for teams to be traveling back-and-forth between the two anyways. And I’m sure they’d want to keep it all centralized, in terms of quarantine and what I’m sure would be daily testing. But then it’s a question of just having enough facilities to host an entire, functioning sports league.

Its an absolute disgrace the Giants didn’t keep that man in their uniform for the rest of his career. Complete disgrace.

The Giants broadcasters are doing a completely straight call of a Giants/Dodgers game being played on The Show. I love miss these guys. But what the hell happened to The Show?! It looks awful graphically. I haven’t played a sports game in years, but it seems to have stagnated and stayed the same since the last time I played. When you're the best sports game there is, there is only so far to keep going.

The Mets are said to not be interested in Matt Harvey.

So... The LG Twins from the Korean baseball league are streaming practice games with teams made of their own roster on YouTube. The games have no crowd and the production value is lacking but watching live baseball after midnight feels weird nowadays.

Not surprising they have avoided Florida, where some other Spring Training facilities are. Arizona might be the safer of the two.
If they can make this work without putting the players/coaches in harm's way, then go for it. I like using the empty seats as the dugouts to avoid players being so close to each other. Never thought of that.
If MLB can be the first sport to come back, and they can do it without causing any issues with state/federal guidelines, then their TV/ad revenue could be huge being the only game in town, and they'd have a real chance to get more mainstream eyes on the product. The NBA has fewer players/people on the court, but there's no way they can implement distancing playing a basketball game. Baseball is the one sport that might be able to get away with it given player interaction is minimal on the field of play.

The logistics are crazy, and it could get shutdown at the drop of a hat. But the MLB really doesn't want to lose an entire operating year worth of revenue. The NHL's financial situation would take a big hit, as they are the least stable of the big 4 financially. They're gonna exhaust all options. I'm skeptical it'll work, but man seeing a live sport in May would be awesome.

I'm skeptical it'll work, but man seeing a live sport in May would be awesome. Yeah MLB is a $10b industry. They absolutely do not want an entire season’s worth of revenue gone. They’ll still lose money by not having fans attend games, but TV revenue will at least give them something, and if they happen to be the only sport providing live content, then their marketability to networks like ESPN (who are dying for any content) would greatly increase. Could mean more games on ESPN, FS1/Fox, TBS, etc. I’m not going to get excited because a lot still has to go right for this to work and we are still a long ways away from even May, but I agree, the thought of any sport starting by May or even the beginning of June is great.

Yeah, if true that's really shitty. You'd think that a guy who was known for being given dozens of second chances would be more patient with a friggin child.

Anyone who's bored should watch SBNation's Dorktown analysis on the Seattle Mariners. Like, the guy who won season tickets for naming the team went missing and apparently never was found, for example.

MLB The Show TournamentI mentioned earlier how Esports is booming and sports leagues need to take advantage of it. I’m not sure how popular baseball video games are as I’m not a gamer but worth a shot. Props to baseball for trying this. If ESPN is going to air a bunch of people shooting jumpers in their driveways, then they might as well show this.

NBA was doing this already with some players NBA is always ahead of the curve with the younger audience so that doesn’t surprise me. Silver is a great commish. Manfred is the one who is stuck in the past, so him adapting and doing something like this is more surprising. Positive step either way. Would have liked to have seen more of the young stars in this though. Soto, Tatis, and Bichette are great, but would have been great if they could have added more players that would appeal to the younger generation like Tim Anderson, Javy Baez, Marcus Stroman, Francisco Lindor, etc. Baby steps.
