Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard has a torn UCL and will get Tommy John's Surgery "as soon as possible." Yea, I can see a few more TJ surgeries this year then normal A good portion of this season will be lost, maybe a 1/3 of it so teams are going to be willing to bite the bullet and lose a year of a player if they can come back stronger sometime end of next season or start the season after

Man, remember when Harvey and Syndergaard were gonna be the best duo since Pedro/Curt or Randy/Curt?

Syndergaard’s 2021 season might be just as impacted as his 2020 season. Best case he’s back mid 2021 but that assuming no setbacks. The best time to get TJS is September/October. That way you miss one full season but might be back to pitch right after that. Getting it now is really tough, which sucks because Severino, Syndergaard, and Sale will probably miss a good chunk of the next two seasons.

They're showing old highlights on social media today on what would have been Opening Day.

MLB Network is showing Game 7 of the 2016 World Series today too. I’ve got a good feeling for the Cubs.

MLB and MLBPA agree on some revisions for this year
The biggest one being whether games are played or not, players will still receive service team. Sucks for a team like the Dodgers who got Mookie Bets with his free agency looming. Absolute worst case scenario is he doesn't play a regular season game for them and they lose him in free agency

But this would hurt teams with not a high payroll but who still have young talent. No development AND a year of service time lost. For what some team like Toronto did with Vlad, that's undone by this whole mess because you lost the year anyway.

It will suck to have a championship window shortened but they got the ability to still be ahead of the curve for at least another season or two Teams with young guys under contract and losing that year is def going to hurt. Jays would lose a year of Vlad, Yanks would lose critical years of Gleyber, Judge and Sanchez all key pieces who aren't earning crazy money yet. I do wonder if there is a work around tho. Sending Vlad to AAA to save that time. Of course this would create bad feelings and hurt them later

Jeff Passan is reporting that the players and league have come to the agreement that games will not be played until there are no bans on mass gatherings, there are no travel restrictions, and medical experts determine that games will not pose a health risk to players and fans. He's saying players are open to the possibility of playing neutral site games, or games with no fans.
I'm guessing that last part is if the virus has went down big time everywhere except a few places, and that's a place where a team plays.
Yep, looking like we won't get a 2020 season.

Just, let's work with an 80-100 game season and focus on that.

Fans are important, but it's in everyone's best interest to return to their jobs BEFORE we can have 50,000 people in the same place. That's a really dumb barrier to put between themselves and a return. Baseball is more important as an escape than as a live event that is a hazard in the post-Covid era.

Yea, they will see that they can't expect shit to be normal Same thing with the NBA. You will have to realize that you're going to have to compromise

The moment MLB gets the green light to have empty stadium games, they’ll do it. They are not going to wait around for a vaccine or for every city to stop being locked down. If NY is still bad but everywhere else has calmed down then the Yankees and Mets might play in their spring training facility for their home games, or some other arrangement.
For a 10 billion dollar industry that’s already going to lose a shit ton of money to cancel the entire season it would take a catastrophe. That includes the NBA as well. Hopefully we don’t reach that point.

They’re showing the Kerry Wood 20K game on ESPN. I remember getting home from school and watching the last few innings. The single most dminating pitching performance I’ve ever seen. I’ve never seen baseballs move like that.

They are going to have to bite the bullet on this one You might not be able to get fans safely back into the arenas until maybe July so they got to play where they can. They aren't cancelling this season, no way they could. They are most def going to cram in 100 games
