The first part, entitled "Siege" is coming to Netflix later this year. Also being developed by Rooster Teeth Studios.
So based on the title, is this based off of the video game franchise?

Has a G1 look to it. But it would not make sense for Optimus to have his Earth vehicle mode, unless it’s set during Post earth events.
Can’t find much info, I’m getting some IDW vibes, hopefully that’s what they are basing the show on.

I’m interested in this and the toys, but have not been seriously invested since G1 in the 80s. What’s my entry point? Where is the best place to start and invest my time?

See? At the FAN meeting I said we must take a stand that Optimus Primal is better than Optimus Prime, and you all laughed at me. YOU ALL LAUGHED!
Now look what's happened, more Prime pushing propaganda.
You are all Shia LaBeouf to me now.

...Rodimus was more interesting than either. I was at first gonna say Leo Convoy, for the record...but then I remembered I've never actually watched those Japanese only Beast Wars series.

Seriously though, Rodimus was awesome. Optimus Prime was like Superman or something, where he commanded respect and everyone blindly followed him. Rodimus was a multi-dimensional character who was always trying to live up to the memory of Optimus and earn the respect of his troops, all while deep down just wishing he could be a rebellious party animal again.

Visually it looks fantastic, I just hope it's better than the Prime Wars trilogy. Even as a kid who ate up everything Transformers-related, Optimus bored they crap out of me. Rodimus being the reluctant leader who occasionally screwed up was far more relatable.

I liked Rodimus in the IDW universe during the mtmte and lost light run. Still the rashness and immaturity of hot rod but in authority. Still, that final speech he gave the crew at the end of the series....f**king epic!

...Rodimus was more interesting than either. I've literally never seen Chris O'Donnell used as a reaction. Amazing.😂

This dropped today.
Voice acting for a few people is very, very off.
Good story, good development and decent animation, but yeah, some people (Magnus, Megatron, Shockwave especially and Ironhide) sound really off, and far too many people sound the same.
The guy doing Prime is doing a decent impression of Cullen though, and the same with whoever is doing Starscream.

Just watched the first episode. It kinda dragged, and there are some less than wonderful character depictions. Hopefully it gets better in the next one.

I feel it was ok. Just real bland and too short. Wish they could of went into whatever Lore this universe has.

Just finished it. Overall, not bad, not brilliant. Pros:- Art and animation is excellent. - The voice acting is pretty solid throughout. - Prime and Megatron feel like fully fleshed out characters, rather than archetypes of good and evil. - Likewise, there is no clear black and white, good vs. evil dynamic in the war. The Decepticons are more extreme in their actions and have strayed from their original path, but at its roots their cause is a sympathetic one. - Omega Supreme is badass. Cons:- It relies heavily on the viewer being already familiar with G1 characters, including some of the more obscure ones; characters show up with no introduction and often disappear abruptly. - Some of the voices are iffy. They get really faithful Cullen and Latta impersonationS for Prime and Starscream, but Ironhide sounds like a California college student instead of a weathered veteran and Shockwave is a pretty generic raspy voice. {Spoiler}- Unearned or pointless deaths. Ultra Magnus' death feels like it was as much for shock value than anything else. Skywarp gets shot by Jetfire and dies offscreen. Moonracer fulfils the role of redshirt in the battle against the Sparkless. - Introducing a big concept like the Alpha Trion Protocols, making Bumblebee the "chosen one", and then destroying it an episode later makes the story feel rushed and underdeveloped. - Too many generics. I get they don't want to rack up a huge bodycount of named Transformers, but the entire Decepticon ranks were about a half dozen actual characters and dozens of generic Seekers and Reflector clones. It just made this supposed planetwide war seem like a skirmish.
