Well gang, I went to the critics' screening of 'Jurassic World: Dominion' last night and...it's got some problems... Jurassic World was a fun little tribute to the original Jurassic Park movies, but it never felt like it had enough story behind it to really re-launch the franchise. Fallen Kingdom really confirmed that with just how willing and easy they were to jump right into cheesy action movie territory. It doesn't surprise me that this movie is running on fumes.

Eh, every Jurassic film sence The Lost World has gotten bad reviews, they’re still entertaining films to me imo, looking forward to Dominion.

I can never take seriously the idea that humans are at risk of being overrun by dinosaurs.
Also, I find it funny that the people to solve the problem of this is a paleontologist, his assistant, a chaos professor and a glorified zoo keeper. Jurassic Park 3 wasn't a great movie, but calling in the military at the end at least made sense. And as much as I liked the original cast, the sequels that each were in exposed the limits of the character, given they were originally written a very specific way for the original movie. Too bad they didn't get the original kids back, only to get eaten by a dino.

All I have to say after reading a synopsis is (even though I’m sure I’ll still watch it one day) is that it sounds like an overly convoluted mess storyline wise that makes Spielberg’s “Dino/human clone soldiers created by evil corporation brings in soldier to train them as elite military force” storyline sound a lot less ridiculous.

I really didn’t like this. I will give the film praise for its selection of ancient creatures, they included many of my personal favorites, Kayla was a fun new character to the franchise, and Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, and Laura Dern’s chemistry as a trio is still impeccable. That’s about where what I liked stopped(there’s some minor references and such sprinkled about that made me mentally do that Leo finger point meme, but that’s not enough to add as a positive to a film I feel). Everything else ranged from “meh” to “oh dear god no, what are you doing?!” to me, and sadly the story is firmly in that second category for me. {Spoiler}Is it really too much to ask for the dinosaurs, in a dinosaur-based franchise, to be the focal point of the damn story in what was marketed as the conclusion to the dinosaur-based franchise?

I thought it was great.
That last fight between the dinosaurs and the Jem Hadar was awesome.

Not really into the franchise but my son has been obsessed with dinosaurs since he was 1 so I’m forced to see this any way it goes…I’m hoping it’s dumb fun like fast and the furious like someone mentioned above…

Just bring back Samuel L. Jackson with a genetically modified dinosaur arm already.

I saw it tonight. Positives 1 - The number of dinosaurs and beasties--awesome. It was great seeing so many 2 - The dinosaurs looked amazing. 3 - Some awesome scenes with the dinosaurs {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}Giga vs T-Rex, the Dilophosaurus, the Atrociraptor chase, Dimetrodons in the tunnel. Brilliant. 4 - Grant, Satler and Malcolm--great to see these three again. 5 - The new character, the pilot, was a good addition to the cast. Negatives {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}1 - Why the f*** do I care about locusts? Show me dinosaurs. It's a dinosaur movie. I want dinosaurs. Not poxy freaking locusts. Get out of my dinosaur movie, giant bugs
2 - The plot was a convuluted mess. Come on--it's Jurassic Park. Just keep it simple. The whole world doesn't need to be at stake thanks to genetically engineered locusts. Just have, I dunno, Maisie dying because the cloning done on her is unstable and the only solution is in Ingen's old files on Site B--Owen decides to bring in Malcolm because he's been to Site B who insists on Grant and Sattler going with them. There--simple and to the point.
3 - I don't care about human cloning. Get it out of my dinosaur movie
4 - Maisie was extremely annoying. Word of advice, Hollywood--nobody, absolutely nobody, enjoys whining characters who don't listen to their elders and end up getting into a shit heap of trouble for it. I wanted her to get eaten.
5 - Wu's redemption. Why? I enjoyed his development to a striaght up villain. Keep him that way. He didn't need redemption.
6 - The actress who was Sierra on Dollhouse's character was quite pointless. Though I swear she's a vampire since she hasn't aged since Dollhouse

Money is tight atm (it’s the U.K. of cause it’s tight) so not sure whether I’m going to see this one at the cinema. Fallen Kingdom just wasn’t a strong enough film for me but we’ll see. Maybe next payday in 2 weeks.

My mom loves these movies so I treated her to this. It was enjoyable in a turn-the-old-noggin-off-for-a-while way. Fun seeing Alan and Ellie again but I wasn’t expecting some grand masterpiece or anything.

If there's another film, I want a clip of a Mosasaurus in Loch Ness, with stunned local residents looking on.

It was ok. The critical response has been a little harsh though I get the complaints. It's way too long&if you didn't care about the clone girl subplot in the last one like me, her being one of the central plots in this one won't do much for you. The fire locusts were stupid as hell, as was some of the dialogue and character decisions.
Jurassic Elon Musk was as meh as that sounds.
Good to see the old crew. Wide variety of dinosaurs was nice. Liked the pilot character. Would have liked more of the lady in white as she was interesting.
Decent time at the movies for a discount matinee. Not great, but not one of the sequels has been. The first one in 93 was lightning in a bottle.
