Your image is just giving a "don't hotlink" image (sites still resort to that shit?).
This is really cool news though. I wonder what all 70 titles are going to be. Even August Ragone didn't know when I asked him.

Will they release the English dub versions that were dubbed in Singapore, Philippines and/or Hong Kong?

Watched the first two episodes of Sheriff Skyfire Jiriya the metal hero series that has an international ninja motif meaning we get some late 80's craziness like Knight Ninjas and Road Warrior themed ninjas.

First thing I got to work was the first episode if Exeedraft, which contained a moment that has me convinced the FBI is going to bust down my door any moment, now.

A few days ago found this channel and I am just having a blast currently going through the first episodes of various series offered there. Never realized until now that Toei did so much more than Sentai, Kamen Rider and Metal Heroes for such a long time.
From period drama-style shows to slice-of-life children shows to action shows besides the usual big three Toei franchises, I am really enjoying myself.
Figured that I will post my thoughts on the various shows here in the next few days rather than in the official Tokusatsu thread since that one seems more about the current series.

OK, let's have a look at the first series on offer here, "Guruguru Medaman"...
A comedy series aired from 1976-77 dealing with the yokai, spirits of Japanese folklore who are perhaps most famous for appearing in Mizuki Shigeru's famed manga series "Gegege no Kitaro". In this case, a girl named Mami finds a necklace with 108 crystals which attracts various yokai monsters who want to get it for themselves. Especially a rather fat, clumsy yokai named Medaman. Luckily, Mami reads an incantation on the back that basically has the same effect on yokai that the words "Sit!" has on Inuyasha when said by Kagome. Ultimately, Medaman saves Mami from an approaching car and gets rewarded with one of the crystals by the spirit that lives inside the necklace. So, I guess the set-up will be that Medaman will be doing good deeds in order to receive those crystals from now on.
As said, it is a surprise to see something different from this studio when one is mostly used to seeing action-packed series from them instead of this rather supernatural slice of life comedy series. For now, it looks like a decent children show and I find the special effects charmingly bad (especially some of the yokai costumes like Umibozu who looks like Ms. Betty's kindergarten class made it in arts and crafts for a school play...come to think about it, Umibozu has the strange habit of "vomiting" water when frightened which accounts for this series weirdest gag so far)..
A good start so far to my foray into this channel.

Next up, an entry in the Metal Heroes series, "Jaspion"...
(one point that irks me about this YT channel. Why is it that they sometimes upload Episode 2 first and Episode 1 later? Doesn't make any sense).
Of all the franchises Toei put out, the Metal Heroes genre is probably the one I am most unfamiliar with. Most I can say was watching VR Troopers and Big Bad Beetleborgs when they first aired here in Germany (as well as one Metal Heroes series getting a German release here, the only Tokusatsu series that ever was released in its original form in Germany).
Thus, I dunno where Jaspion from 1985-86 ranks in the grand Metal Heroes scheme of things. What I like so far is the setting which appears to be more of a cruise through the galaxy, visiting different planets in search of the McGuffin of this series, the Galactic Bible, rather than everything set on Earth, Jaspion having an android partner/guardian alongside him and having an omnipotent foe controlling the monsters-of-the-week rather than the usual Big Bad Organization. And as before I love the charmingly bad special effects, be it the monster costumes in the "Mos Eisley cantina" in this episode or the various rear projection effects on display here.
Only bad point is them getting a cute pet sidekick in the first episode which is something I never cared for. Hopefully, it won't be too annoying going forward.
A decent outing for Jaspion so far.

Next up, we go away from outer space and back to planet Earth but this time, not for a space theme and more of a ninja theme with "Jiraiya"...
Another entry in the Metal Heroes genre from 1988-89, this one looks more like conventional fare with an evil organization opposing the hero, the setting being Earth etc. except instead of the science fiction theme of "Jaspion", this one is with ninjas (I wonder if Masashi Kishimoto took the name of this series for Naruto's Jiraiya).
It is a decent first episode with lots of ninja action (I kinda dug the scene on the gondola especially) and surprisingly, the old mentor to our hero doesn't die in the first episode as I expected. Also liked what looks to be the "monster-of-the-week" for next episode with lots of English sprinkled in his dialogue (also a plus for me that the monsters-of-the-week appear to be rival ninjas from all over the world instead of created in a monster making machine).
While not looking quite as interesting from the setting as "Jaspion", the ninja theme makes up for it. Looking forward to how it goes next.

Now to get to the start of everything Metal Heroes with the first Space Cop show, "Gavan"... Airing from 1982-83, I immediately like that it was a star vehicle for Kenji Ohba whom I know mostly from being Battle Kenya in Battle Fever J and Denjiblue in Denjiman where I found him quite a likable actor. For its first episode, it is a decent set-up although nothing that original that I haven't seen in Sentai up to that point. What was interesting though was the other dimension Gavan fought that monster of the week in (giving opportunity to use lots of charmingly bad rear projection effects) and cute was also that they wanted to show us EXACTLY how Gavan transformed in those 0.05 miliseconds because that was surely what was most on my mind watching this. I also kinda dug that we apparently will have some Warp Darkmatter to Gavan's Buzz Lightyear in the show (although this episode doesn't make it clear that the human-looking field general of Makuu is that traitor to the Space Cops). A decent offering here.

After a bout of action shows, let us go back to something a bit more whimsical with "Suki Suki! Majo Sensei!"...
So far the oldest show I have encountered on this channel, airing in 1971-72, but that's not a bad thing. From the first episode, it gives off more of a feeling in the vein of "I Dream Of Jeannie" or "Bewitched", although in this case, it is about a beautiful woman who is part of a Universe Peace Force sent to study the people of Planet Earth. To do this, she takes up a job as an elementary school teacher since, I guess, elementary school students make the best subjects? Despite being supposed to be neutral in her studies, she cannot help but going the extra mile much to the chagrin of her accompanying advisor, an old rabbit (so far the only "monster" costume used in the show).
There's really not much new ground to cover here since it really hits all the tropes one could imagine with that kind of story: the beautiful, mysterious woman with a hidden secret; the infatuated colleague; the strict and mean vice principal (seriously, why is it always the vice principal that is the most antagonistic in all the Japanese shows dealing with school I have seen? Is there something really frustrating about that position?); the aloof and eccentric principal; the troublesome students etc.. If you have seen one kind of story like this, this will bring you nothing new.
I do like the many references to the Japanese fairy tale of Princess Kaguya presented and Ms. Tsuki has quite the charming and friendly personality. I also like that there is sort of an energy supply to her powers, i.e. she cannot use her powers (manifested in her moonlight ring) indefinitely which should become a focus in future episodes.
All in all, not a highly original show so far, but it has its charm.

And we meet another space cop with "Space Cop Sharivan"...
I dunno whether it is a good idea to have watched it now since it appears to be a direct sequel to Gavan from 1983-84 and an actual real sequel not in the "Denjiman/Sun Vulcan" vein. Perhaps I should have watched Gavan in full first but cannot change it now.
Nothing much to say here since it really seems made in the same mold as Gavan: a space cop with a female helper, check. An evil organization starting with "Ma-" (Madoh instead of Makuu in this case), check. Having to fight the monster of the week in the equivalent of Dementia 5, check. Having to show Sharivan's transformation in ultra slow-mo, check. Only difference mostly is the giant robot is not a cool dragon robot, but a much more standard giant robot (though it looks kinda clunky). Cannot say whether it will have its own identity down the line but having watched Gavan very recently makes the similarities stand out all the more.
That being said, it looks decent so far, still.

Now it appears we leave the supernatural and sci-fi behind with something a bit more down-to-earth (I guess?) with "Marin Gumi"...
Airing in 1988-89, this one stands out for being about a group of five elementary school kids who are not exactly the best in school (except the girl) that want to catch a famous thief...no, neither Lupin III or Kaito Kid but rather this fellow called Zigomar who from his looks is the closest thing we have to tokusatsu in this version.
Having read lots of German junior detective novels as a child and feeling kinda reminded of the Detective Boys parts in "Case Closed", this certainly feels like an interesting throwback to my childhood with a Japanese twist and I am looking forward to see how this goes (though I will be surprised if Zigomar turns out NOT to be the lead kid's uncle that is a heavy supporter of their group).
