...his theme was already in the public domain. Why did they need to remake it? This is as pointless as when they redid Sandow's "Hallelujah Chorus" theme.

They have to make their own version of it to release it on iTunes, Apple Music, etc. Anything they release has to be registered to their music label.

Hmm, that actually makes a good deal of sense, and would explain why (from what I've seen anyway) they've never formally released Ric Flair or Randy Savage's themes, since they fall into the same category.
