Very heartbreaking watch, Jericho telling the story about Benoit punishing/hurting himself by doing 500 hindu squats for screwing up a spin kick spot was surreal. May need a VPN if overseas.

What could they possibly talk about in part 2?

What could they possibly talk about in part 2? The details of what exactly the police discovered at the scene and during the investigation, the media's coverage of the story, the Raw tribute show, what the study of Benoit's brain found. There's enough there for another 45 minutes.

That was remarkably well done and put together, though I'd expect no less from this show. I actually got teary-eyed when they were talking about Eddie's passing and everyone's response to it. And seeing that Benoit segment from the Eddie tribute show...man, that was rough to see again.

It's so hard watching David. It's like he still hasn't processed this.

Finished watching part 1, I always remember reading how Benoit was devastated by Eddie dying, but did not know the extent of it and how much it really impacted him.

It's so hard watching David. It's like he still hasn't processed this. I honestly hope the experience was at least somewhat cathartic for him. I can't imagine having to live with something like that for the rest of your life.

Did we really need the dramatisation of what Eddie and Vickie got up to in bed?
I can't unsee that now.

A couple of takeaways:
1. This documentary further demonstrates why there needs to be open, easily accessible support for mental health.
2. I'm 99% sure Chris Benoit was in love with Eddie Guerrero in a pure yet heartbreaking way.

Ok so the Chavo thing with the texts..... I always gave him the benefit of the doubt getting weird texts and not reporting them to anybody (except apparently one guy?) because it seemed off but not super duper off, but to learn that Chavo got the same exact texts from BOTH Chris and Nancy's phones.......... dude, you do not go back to sleep after that, you call/text back or tell a series of people something very weird is happening. You didn't watch it, did you? I did. The multi-layered horror-movie-level fallout absolutely warrants its own episode. Would've been a horrible episode if they crammed EVERYTHING about Chris Benoit into 45 minutes.

It's pretty good for what you can get in 45 minutes. Sullivan getting the book in WCW before Benoit left would seem important. And of course, you can only get people outside WWE to be in these, but I would have liked to here about some of the people in the locker room who wern't his friends to try to present a fuller view of what kind of person he was at work.

God, I never heard that Chavo held Eddie as he died; that was an absolute gut punch, the poor guy.
Obviously all the people in their lives were devastated by what happened, but I couldn't help but feel most for David; of all the voices here, he had to go through it in his youth, still growing and developing as a person, still having his father as his hero, not thinking anything like this could ever happen, especially with how happily he recounts their family life. Just crushing.
That said, I did think it was a bit of an oversight to leave out that Sullivan got the book back in WCW just as Benoit left (though only just after Sullivan put the title on him at Souled Out), and I'm curious if they're going to discuss steroids in the next part, given how clearly Benoit and Guerrero got so huge during their WWE runs. Still, this episode captured the human toll of what happened incredibly well, so no matter what it's a worthwhile look just for that.
What sticks out is just how badly Benoit took Eddie's death; I don't for one minute minimize the damage that losing such a close friend that early in life could cause, but the way Benoit reacted, to where it seemed like not even his family could bring him back from the grief at all, makes it seem like there was more going on under the hood than anyone could have known. Was it something from Benoit's youth? A lack of some kind of brotherhood or close friendship as a kid, or something that else that just kept him from processing the pain he was going through, and only being able to express it through extreme emotions? Or was it simply the extent to which his brain had been hurt over the years, which culminated in the nightmare that followed? I guess that's what the second part might end up focusing on.

They did an excellent job on this.
I think stuff they left out was in part to squash any conspiracy jabber. Saying Sullivan got the book before Benoit left gives a little in for the people who think Sullivan killed them. Saying they left because they never got the main event and then leaving out Benoit was world champion and had main evented the night before and was supposed to that night just adds noise.
A more irresponsible documentary also probably would have implied more about Eddie and Chris’ relationship was going on. Especially since they left out just how many of Benoit’s friends died and how that was affecting him.
