I was just thinking of this, does Crush count as a former WWF tag champ? Yes, he was with them when they were champions, but he wasnt part of them when they won the belts.

They Freebirded it so I'd say yes. They count Xavier as being in on New Day's record reign even though he wasn't actually part of the team that won the belts.

Well he was the one pinned to drop them and they kind of defended them under the Freebird Rule but Demo Crush doesn’t seem to be the same person in kayfabe as Hawaiian Crush.

It's such a shame what happened to Demolition, especially Ax. It seems like 20 years passed between WrestleMania and Summerslam. It was like Demolition on top of the world at WrestleMania to being on an indy show it was such a step down.

I really liked the "Hole in One Darsow" gimmick.

Sorry, I cannot credit Crush as a champion here. I saw the Demolition title reign as "illegal" from the point he arrived. It was fitting that he took the pin when they finally lost the belts.

I think so. Crush arrived as new blood for the team when Ax became Gassed.
As our fellow posters Lizuka and Johnnyk9 mentioned, special consideration should be given to the Freebird rule. It's recognition of the role well played by Buddy Jack Roberts, the experienced veteran who was brought in to keep his two stoner charges focused. He also help the Freebirds to win often.

Demolition died so Repo Man could live. It was a fair trade.

Does WWE recognise Pat Barrett? He became a reigning and defending champion alongside Dominic Denucci when Victor Rivera left WWWF. Seems like the same situation.

But if Crush dosen't count as a tag team champion, shouldn't The Hart Foundation not have won the belts when they pinned him?

My problem with the "Freebird Rule" has always been the fact that more teams don't use it to their advantage. Especially heel tag teams.

If Jack Tunney approved it, then yes.
