We all know about shockmasters legendary debut but that's about it. They changed his look and character revealing Fred's face and adding a construction helmet to a clumsy character.
But debuting as a part of a major angle with the top stars in the promotion means they had big plans for him, right? Was he supposed to be a face counterpart to vader? What was his in ring attire? A similar vader mask under the stormtrooper mask? Why the voice manipulation? Jeans and cowboy boots but a mysterious name and Cape and glittery mask? Did fred ottman or dusty or any other participants ever talk about it?

The plan was to shock the world. It was an absolute success.

I don't think there was a clear plan. If the character somehow got over they would push him harder but if not then the idea would go by the wayside. If the idea was to push him against Vader...how? Where? Cactus Jack was coming back for the Halloween Havoc match and in theory Sid was facing Vader for the title at Starrcade. Where would Shockmaster even fit?

They later on tried to introduce the Super Shockmaster, which I believe was supposed to be the regular Shockmaster's uncle or something like that, but the Super Shockmaster wasn't a klutz like his nephew. I believe this was what the original look and feel of the gimmick was supposed to be.

What's even more weird about Shockmaster is that even after his disastrous debut and having to change the gimmick, they still pushed him strong. Scored the winning submission in the wargames match and went over in all of his PPV/Clash matches afterwards. If I'm not mistaken he didn't even get pinned during that whole run. Makes it weirder that he disappeared early into 94. You would think with Hogan coming in he would've had a good spot.

They never explained his exact relationship, just that he was a heel that was targeting the Shockmaster. That's right. He was building up a feud with...himself.

Saw Typhoon against Yoko in June 94

I watched all the WCW shows at the time and I never saw a Super Shockmaster match.

He was supposed to beat Vader at Starcade for the title but wanted to face the Kong’s instead
And I just made that up

Saw Typhoon against Yoko in June 94 I know he ended up going back to WWF to fill in for Earthquake, I just don't get why he would leave WCW for WWF when it seemed like he was actually pushed and treated a lot better in WCw. As I said debut aside he was actually pushed pretty well as Shockmaster while in WWF he was pretty much always a giant JTTS as a singles guy. Unless it was simply a money reason where WWF was offering him more money or WCW simply just released him. I don't think it's ever been revealed the reason for his departure even in his shoot interviews. It seemed Earthquake and Typhoon would constantly cross in the night in between the two big promotions after splitting as a team. Quake left WWF first in early 93. Typhoon stuck around for a few more months mainly putting guys over before leaving for WCW to become Shockmaster with Quake then returning to WWF in early 94. Quake quickly left again after a few months with Typhoon leaving WCW and coming back to WWF take his place, with Quake then showing up in WCW a few months later as Avalanche. It seemed like one would be brought in to fill a spot in the promotion that the other left.

I think it's giving too much credit to assume WCW had any kind of plan, ever.

I saw a clip David Bixenspan posted on twitter a while ago of the Super Shockmaster where Tony really over sells the he's a different person thing.
