Because most any time WWE brings something back from the past, we inevitably bitch about it? I mean, for years people wanted WWE to do War Games, 4 matches later and we're complaining about them happening annually when they happened annually before! See, we complain that we want things from the past to come back, but then when they do, we complain that WWE brought them back at all.

I Really haven't seen that much bitching about War Games being used annually.

Isn't the actual reason that someone else owns the name now?

I Really haven't seen that much bitching about War Games being used annually. I've seen it, but it's only been from a few people. Not a big deal to me, personally. The main complaint seems to be that if they start doing 2 matches a year now with both the men and women it'll water the match down. I disagree with that, all four matches have been fantastic IMO so I'm all for it if the matches continue to be great.

It stirs up bad connotations in light of Vince's constant battles with the paranormal.

Regarding everyone’s questions about the Halloween Havoc trademark: Right now, WWE is the sole owner of the name. A company called KBN Inc. did attempt to claim the name, but WWE filed an opposition. KBN failed to file an answer, which led to the trademark board ruling in favor of WWE. As you can see, KBN’s application is dead. So if WWE wants to use Halloween Havoc for a Network special event, it can.

I wish they could bring it back, it was always one of WCW's catchiest names and was a fun one to theme. They could even do the giant devil and pumpkin again!
But there seems a firm reluctance. Big shame.
